What’s in my cart :: Target

I have a love/hate relationship with Target.  When I spoke to my financial planner – who happened to have been a CEO at Target once upon a time before he switched careers – and he explained how the store is designed deliberately to get you to spend more than you’d planned when you entered, the reason for my love/hate relationship became quite clear.

I don’t care how strict your budget.  I don’t care how frugal your personality.  I dare you to walk into your local Tarjay and leave with a receipt under $25.  Easy peasy, you say?  Try it then, my friends, and email me a picture of your proof.  The wiser ones of you know that completing my challenge is futile and understand totally why I try to avoid the void that is my local brick and mortar Target.

Shopping online at Target, on the other hand, is a different story.

Although it’s not as intuitive as F21’s site, and although it has this annoying habit of teasing you by listing items no longer in stock, Target’s liberal return policy earns it high marks in my book.  I literally throw in hundreds of dollars of merchandise in my cart, have them shipped for free, try them on in the privacy of my own home, then dutifully traipse to the store to return three-quarters of it.  Why not just go to the store and do all my trying on there?  Because, my friends, of what my financial planner told me and also because returning is easier done than shopping when you have little ones in tow.

So what am I coveting this week?

Converse® One Star® Women's Sleeveless Britney Top - Assorted Colors Converse® One Star® Women's Sleeveless Britney Top - Assorted Colors

Either one of these shirts.  I really wanted it in purple since that’s a color that I have little to none of in my closet, but sadly they’ve run out of that color in my size. The only reason I’ve not bought either yet is because I’m not as conversant in the Converse One brand and I’m unsure as to whether I’m a M or L.  Plus, isn’t $17.48 still a bit much for a tank?

Women's Xhilaration® Tammy Plank Wedge Sandal - Black

After having completed Black and White Week, I realized I do not own a pair of black wedges.  Travesty, right?  How have I lived all these years with this oversight?  Am now trying to rectify this situation, but I don’t know if this is the magical shoe to hang my dreams onto.

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Colored Skinny Denim - Assorted Coloreds Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Colored Skinny Denim - Assorted Coloreds

I like the idea of two-toned pants, especially when they come in fun sherbet colors like those above.  However, I have loads of colored denim already.  Granted, they’re all in vibrant gem tones because I started investing in them during the fall/winter seasons, so perhaps there is just cause to splurge on more colored jeans?  Or do I just turn away on this one and content myself with what I’ve got?

Huh, I thought I had a lot more in my cart.

I guess I did a lot of deleting since last time.

See what I mean about shopping Target online?  It limits impulse shopping.  At least for me, anyhow.  Keep in mind, though, that sometimes your local b&m store will deep discount things that are still full price online so buyer, be aware!  Click on this handy link for useful and valuable Target shopping info.
