I turned 40 before I even thought boo about makeup. Previous to this seminal point in my life, my skin care routine consisted of a vigorous face scrubbing with whatever body wash I’d been using, Cetaphil lotion for moisturizing, and a quick swipe of Chapstick or, if I was feeling feisty, Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm.
I was most definitely a low maintenance gal.
I can’t even remember how it all began, to tell you the truth, but I know KS#1 had a great deal to do with it. Did she send me YouTube links of makeup gurus? Did she send me reviews of a particular product? Did she rave about her most recent Sephora haul? I really couldn’t tell you, but as what happens to me with everything in which I start taking an interest, I began to obsess.
And I obsessed hard.
I’m not going to regale you with the number of hours I spent online researching, or the number of products I ordered, or the number of trips I took from CVS, Walgreens then Target to triangulate the best price for eyeliner. What I would like to share today is what I eventually found to be my holy grail of foundation/sunscreen: Garnier’s BB Cream in Medium.
I love what this product does for my skin – it doesn’t sit into my wrinkles like Revlon’s Photoready products. I love how this product cuts my get-ready time in half by not requiring an extra step like the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation/Rimmel face primer combo I’d previously used. I love how this product has caused compliments and comments on my skin to increase ever since I started using it.
I can either use my fingers or the Crown brush gifted to me by KS#1; either method works for an even application. The cream settles and smooths into my skin and gives me a glow without the shine and it pretty much lasts all day. Also, a lot of product goes a long way; a tube of this stuff lasts me a good three/four months. It only has an SPF15, though, so I may have to reconsider as time goes by, but right now it’s adequate protection since I spend the majority of my time indoors anyhow.
There are other reviews complete with skin swatches all over the ‘net so you can do some research on your own, but for me, Garnier’s BB cream hasn’t done me wrong yet and I’ll continue to use it until someone turns me on to something better.
