I am SUPER EXCITED to share some amazing news with you, my friends.
As you know, I’ve been utilizing Style Up’s services for this week’s theme, waiting until the regularly scheduled time of 9pm before I can begin outfit creation and blogging. I’d
complained mentioned how this was proving to be quite a challenge to my over-achieving Type A personality, and guess what?!
Kendall Herbst, the CEO of Style Up, contacted me and not only offered to send me my posting earlier all this week so I can complete my entries before midnight, she also asked if I wanted to be interviewed and featured on the Style Up blog.
I KNOW, RIGHT?!
[insert my insanely delirious jig of joy here]
And then to top off this monumental news, the advance pic she sends me is none other than Audrey of Putting Me Together! I heart Audrey! And her outfit is so fun to replicate!
So I hate to make a big deal about what some might consider a rather petty endeavor (What? You have a style blog? Where you talk about clothes? That’s it?) but I really am super psyched about this collaboration with Style Up, so I hope you don’t mind if I talk about it rather than my outfit.
(Oh, okay. I do wanna say several things about this outfit: In honor of Audrey who is an inveterate Target shopper, I chose this Mossimo number even though it is not a silky dress. Hey, at least it’s patterned, right? And since the shoes are the same color as the dress it functions as a neutral the way Audrey’s does. Just nod and smile.)
As some of you may know, I’ve been struggling with the purpose and identity of this blog since Day 1. I’d even begun to privately question its existence, thinking perhaps it’s taken/taking up so much of my focus and time to the detriment of things like family and work and that I should just let it die a graceful death.
But then I got to meet veteran style bloggers like Audrey and Lisa, both of whom I greatly admire and strive to emulate for their aesthetic and generous spirits. And then I start growing a modest following of virtual strangers. And now an interview with Kendall Herbst? Who I just found out was a former fashion editor at Lucky and InStyle magazines, the two publications that have survived many an unsubscribing purge in my house and the former of which published my Fashion Bible? Can you understand my fangirl squeeing now?
Now I don’t want to count my chickens yet. As we all know in the world of journalism, today’s news could easily become yesterday’s fading memory. Oh, I don’t doubt Kendall is true to her word and I’m sure I’ll be getting her interview questions as promised. But who’s to say I won’t get upstaged by something bigger and better or if I even make the cut at the end of the day?
Speculation kills the soul, however, so I’m gonna stop with the negativity, revel in the awesome sauce-ness of it all and bask in my fifteen minutes of fame. Quite frankly, this is probably as close as I’m gonna get to my lifelong dream of having my own ISBN.
