Yale week 2 :: of long days, mosquito bites and days off

My apologies for the belated post.

After a very long night of fireworks in the park, Jim Beam and Coke and heart-to-heart conversations, I had to turn right around and work a full shift (8am-11pm) before I was officially cleared to enjoy my weekend off.

Needless to say, I didn’t have much time or opportunity to write.  Instead, I completed three observations and follow-up feedback sessions, hastily packed, dropped the boom on an instructor whose plans just weren’t EXPLO enough (yes, there were tears), then revamped said instructor’s lesson plans for the week.

In between all that, I managed to sample the delights of Ashley’s Ice Cream – coffee Oreo and sweet cream in a waffle cone; nom, nom! – before being whisked away at 11pm by KS#1 and her hubby and driving to Massachusetts.

The lowest low of the day?  Suffering through the aftermath of a night at the park: multiple mosquito bites covering so much of my body that I felt I had the chicken pox.

The highest highs of the day?  Showering in my own bathroom sans shower flip flops and sprawling across a queen bed with real sheets whilst enjoying central A/C.

Ah, bliss!

I thank my bro-in-law for making the two-hour drive there and the two-hour drive back and I intend to make the most of the rest of my weekend off before the grind begins again.

Here is what I wore during my very long day.  I love this dress, even though I’ve been told it looked like a “house dress”.  It was breezy and cool and allowed me to partake in that ginormous ice cream extravaganza without having to worry about camouflaging the ice cream “baby” I grew in my gut after.

And no, that’s not really beer my son is drinking.  He did freak me out when he started guzzling but then he giggled and revealed it to be water in a Newcastle bottle.  Silly!

We were more than happy to come get ya! The dress isn’t a house dress at all. Love that color blue 🙂

I don’t think it looks like a house dress at all; that a stunning color of blue. I am also mosquito bitten, but there is nothing like mosquitos back east.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
