Yale week 4 :: of art shows, heat waves and climate control

Today is EXPLO Art Show 2013.

It is the best day of EXPLO yet.

Let me count the ways:
1. It is the second hottest day of the week and I get to be indoors all day facilitating the gallery set-up. No walking to and from observations in the heat. Bliss!
2. I get to wait in an air-conditioned space in between classes, catching up on my email and not being responsible for anything for a few minutes.
3. Did I mention air conditioning ALL DAY?

Of course, I still have to walk to get from the dorm to the gallery and also, it’s a trek from the gallery to Commons for food, so I chose to wear this outfit in preparation for that.

BFF tells me that I need to practice remixing pieces and that I need to show people it’s possible to do a lot with a little. So this is a top I’ve worn previously, paired with shorts that are not from the same store but are magically the same hue. Thank goodness for foresight and packing with a specific color palette in mind.

I’m still debating whether or not I want to get gussied up for this event tonight. I brought one good dress that I thought I’d wear for the last staff party but since I don’t plan on attending that party, I don’t want it to go to waste.

By the way, this is Emily. She was the second person I met when I came here. She is also my suitemate and perhaps the sassiest, funniest, most capable person here. She is tireless, fiercely positive, super fashionable and she has the most infectious laugh this side of the Mississippi. She has weird hang-ups about childbirth (“I just want to be knocked out then wake up with my baby clean and bundled.”), loves all kinds of desserts (“GUYS! There’s a cannolli truck right outside Commons!”), and possesses an astounding knowledge of rhetoric (“Let me tell you about hegemony and The Modern Family.”).

:: Just the facts, ma’am ::
Top – Old Navy
Shorts – F21

    • I knew someone would get me – people here don’t understand the glory of a/c; they think I’m weird for seeking it out like the Holy Grail. ;p

    • Thanks! I actually tried remixing, not just the pairing, but the way I wore the top as well. As in, I didn’t cinch the self tie at all, allowing the shirt to hang instead of bunch and hopefully giving it a totally different feel.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
