OOTD :: of trending black and blue

To balance out the unexpected informality of yesterday’s outfit, today I give you business casual.

I hadn’t intended to be tonal with the blazer and the top – blue covers such a vast spectrum that I wouldn’t even hope to expect any of my blue items to go, much less match. Somehow, though, these two pieces look harmonious to my eye, perhaps because both blues are cool hued.

Speaking of the blazer, I love how wearing one automatically invokes structure and professionalism, but the ponte knit and ruched, three-quarter length sleeves of this number diminishes the potential severity of the look.

Ditto for the gathered jersey top – the drapey softness balances the crispness of the cropped pant.

Color-wise, I feel particularly proud of myself because I’m finally getting over my issues about the blue and black combo being reminiscent of a bruise. True, I did so because I’m a slave to media and style gurus across the blogoverse tell me it’s trending and therefore okay.

So sue me for being a follower, but it’s still overcoming a hang-up, and I’m calling it a win.

:: Just the facts, ma’am ::
Top – F21
Blazer – Charlotte Russe (sim, sim, sim)
Pants – LOFT (sim, sim)
Shoes – Madden Girl (sim, sim, sim)

  1. I always love cobalt on other people but I never wear it for some reason. And yes, it really is OK to wear black and blue together 🙂 You look great!
