Whenever I think to complain about the weather, I hearken back to my seven weeks in New Haven and promptly bite my tongue.
Yeah, it’s gonna be triple digit-heat today, but I will be safely ensconced in my classroom which is right next to the chiller room and even though that probably has nothing to do with anything, I know that I will be ensured climate control at 72°F.
Even so, my noblesse oblige compels me to dress appropriately for the outside temps. Thus today’s outfit.
The foundation was the blue checked shirt for this week’s theme, of course, but I went to Pinterest to come up with its partner in crime. I was thinking floral or polka dot because we all know I love me some pattern mixing. A gingham/khaki combo captured my eye, though, and since I’ve not worn this skirt ever, the decision was pretty painless.
The hardest part was layer number three. I didn’t feel like jewelry, and it is definitely way too warm for a cardi or a blazer. I did need something to morph the outfit from predictably pedestrian to cheeky prep, and that was when inspiration hit. Why not go preppy all the way?
Nothing screams “preppy” like argyle, but argyle and gingham and khaki? Together in one look? I’m a walking J. Crew catalog model times ten to the ironic power, my friends.
