Today’s outfit is a whopping cheat.
Well, ‘cheat’ in terms of the initial premise of this blog. After all, I’m supposed to be shopping my closet, not adding to it. Both the top and the skirt are new purchases, though, and I have no excuse. I was in the mood for something new one day and both H&M and F21 are my retail kryptonite.
I love the top for several reasons:
- It doesn’t wrinkle.
- It’s got that perfect blouson effect. (You know the effect – where it camouflages the muffin while still keeping you svelte at the same time.)
- The sleeve length is flattering.
- The leopard print is black and white instead of the usual brown and black.
- The be-jeweled detailing (on the epaulet) is refined and not so in-your-face.
I love the skirt because – well, because it’s yellow. And flirty. And textured. ‘Nuff said.
This would now be the time when I mention feeling like a bumblebee wearing this combination of colors, but I think the print is helping me ignore my usual hang-up.
What I was concerned about was the outfit looking too twee. I mitigated this by throwing on a moto jacket at the last minute which will probably end up staying on all day, it’s that chilly in my classroom. But hey, you won’t hear me complaining.
