What is chic?
Synonyms include attractive, elegant, well-groomed.
A Google image search pulls up (barring photos of the 70s disco group):
I define chic as slick, sleek, minimal. These words come to mind when a stranger catches my eye sartorially. They also come to mind when I stand in front of my closet and channel my own chic.
(Of course, I allow myself to deviate from my personal definition when I add a qualifier to the moniker. Thus I can be 60s chic or rocker chic or bohemian chic.)
Today, no qualifiers need apply because it’s casual Friday and I’m going for simple chic.
I did have this cute outfit all plotted out but then I woke up to Day 3 of Stuffy Nose Central and I just wanted to be warm and comfortable. So you, my friends, get unrelieved black today with not much to say about it except that it’s black and black is chic and I think I’m well within the parameters of today’s assignment.
I do have to point out that the components of this outfit are pretty much the same as yesterday’s: jacket, scarf, skinnies and boots. It’ll be my fall uniform in the coming weeks when the days grow shorter and my efforts grow weaker, but I’ll try to choose different kinds of jacket, scarf, skinnies and boots to provide some visual variety.
