The problem with being a style blogger is that you really need to follow a lot of other style bloggers.
It’s really just good form to do so because 1) it’s professional courtesy and 2) it’s research.
You get into serious trouble, however, when the bloggers on regular rotation look nothing like you, either in coloring or shape or size. One of the ones I follow features J at J’s Everyday Fashion. She’s blonde, tanned, svelte and itty bitty. And she can rock the hell out of peach and blush.
Sadly, peach and blush make me look like the walking dead. I know this, but that still didn’t keep me from buying a bunch of items in these colors because J
tempted inspired me. Predictably, they’ve been sitting in my closet, taunting me, and I’d planned to just chuck them during my next cull.
But thanks to TPP, I forced myself to create an outfit that incorporates this most difficult color. I found that the trick is to pair it with something that does complement me. My go-to color has always been black, but to ramp up the vibe, I chose to do a fun print. The entire ensemble is a little bit librarian, a little bit kitsch. And I totally love it.
I may just have to coin a term for this new genre I’ve discovered…
