OOTD :: of Day 16 and a challenging color

The problem with being a style blogger is that you really need to follow a lot of other style bloggers.

It’s really just good form to do so because 1) it’s professional courtesy and 2) it’s research.

You get into serious trouble, however, when the bloggers on regular rotation look nothing like you, either in coloring or shape or size. One of the ones I follow features J at J’s Everyday Fashion. She’s blonde, tanned, svelte and itty bitty. And she can rock the hell out of peach and blush.

Sadly, peach and blush make me look like the walking dead. I know this, but that still didn’t keep me from buying a bunch of items in these colors because J tempted inspired me. Predictably, they’ve been sitting in my closet, taunting me, and I’d planned to just chuck them during my next cull.

But thanks to TPP, I forced myself to create an outfit that incorporates this most difficult color. I found that the trick is to pair it with something that does complement me. My go-to color has always been black, but to ramp up the vibe, I chose to do a fun print. The entire ensemble is a little bit librarian, a little bit kitsch. And I totally love it.

I may just have to coin a term for this new genre I’ve discovered…

I recognized that print! I’ve got the pull-over version!
I am not friends with blush/beige/pale pastels either. They make me twitchy.
Now, what’s that ginormous projected computer screen behind you? Is that in your classroom?

Twitchy. Eheh. Good word for it.

That, my dear, is my Smartboard. It’s right smack dab in the middle of a bank of white boards and since they still haven’t given us proper training in the three years we’ve been in this brand new building, it’s basically a waste of space. Or, if you’re a silver lining kinda gal, it’s the perfect blank canvas to stand in front of when I can’t help but do indoor shots for the blog.

Thankfully, my pre-planning self does photo shoots at home over the weekends, but don’t be surprised if the Smartboard features prominently in the future some times.

Hrmmm…why are you commenting on posts this far back? Did you get lost or something? ;p

  2. […] outfit was the most successful? A: If comments and public opinion are to be believed, then the Challenging Color outfit was. But I personally felt most comfortable and therefore most successful in my Neutrals […]
