As with coins and conversations, there is of course the other side to yesterday’s challenge.
Today, then, we focus on an outfit that has no neutrals whatsoever. I’d wanted to recreate something similar to one of my fave unorthodox color combos, but I just wasn’t feeling the magenta. After several frustrated moments in front of my closet, and after going through the whole I-have-nothing-to-wear-I-need-to-buy-something-stat! feeling, I remembered my new cobalt pumps.
They’re the exact same shoe as the black ones I’ve been sporting a lot recently, and no wonder! They’re perhaps the most comfortable pair of stylish footwear I own at the moment. They may not come with all the bells and whistles as some of my more ornate pieces, but they save my feet from excruciating pain while at the same time giving me enough “fashion” with their pointy toed-ness that I don’t feel like I’m wearing “practical” shoes. My orthopedist would be so proud.
Since cobalt determined the color palette, it was a short leap into orange. Or so I thought. I had an orange top and blazer all planned out, but when I started writing copy today, I experienced a sudden sense of irritated ennui and I knew I had to switch things up. (Post-traumatic stress from EXPLO, maybe?)
A quick Google search revealed several fun new choices for a cobalt pairing and I’ve filed most of them away for future outfits, but mint won the race today. I would never have thought to put these two colors together which just proves once again why Google and I have such an amazing relationship.
Mint and cobalt. Spring and fall. Fashion juxtaposition. And no neutrals in sight. It’s definitely my cup of tea.
