So what better way to start off the work week than with an eye-popping dose of spring.

Yep, I’m busting out the melon in order to do a bit of visual sleight-of-hand. I figure, by drawing the attention up and/or down, folks won’t realize that I’m re-wearing this skirt all week. Of course, this’ll be the first time colleagues and students will see me, but we both know, gentle reader, that this skirt has already been put to work yesterday.

Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone!

I like the sassy librarian look I’ve got going on here. Because the skirt is a bit bodycon, I didn’t tuck in the top so the vibe is a bit casual, but there’s something about a cardi that just screams “literati” and this saves me from looking shlumpy. The addition of the statement necklace also helps mitigate the potential insouciance of the outfit.

Also, how about them pumps? I was considering throwing them on sale on eBay because they’re not real leather and therefore developed a crease in the vamp after only one wear. But I think I’m my own worst critic so I bet no one notices the crease unless I point it out. And since the color is so unique, I saved it from the chopping block and now I’m glad I did.

And at the risk of upsetting my non-Californian readers, I must point out that it’s predicted to be a sunny 82 degrees Fahrenheit today so I can totally get away with sporting this color without looking like a tool. There are some advantages to living in So. Cal. after all.

  2. You look absolutely wonderful in that melon color! Also, I am jealous of your weather as it is supposed to snow here tonight. I love the big, chunky necklace and I am so glad to see you wearing those shoes with that color skirt. My poor, darling mother raised me firmly with the rule that your shoes had to match the hemline color of your skirt. I have tried to assure her that this is no longer 1956 but she will not believe it. Incidentally, I once found mom home in a purple t-shirt, gold spandex shorts, grey wool socks and Birkenstock sandals on. But our shoes must match our hem line, LOL!!!

    • Ahhhh! You lost me on “gold spandex shorts”! God bless mothers. ;p

I’ve never heard that hemline rule; must research it and perhaps do an entire week on it? Possible theme idea. Hrmmmm…

And please don’t be jealous of our weather. I can’t wait for temps to dip below 60 so I can justify fur boots and overcoats. I think I live on the wrong coast.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
