It’s unfortunate that life gets in the way of art.
Not to sound presumptuous and call my blog “art”, per se, but there is some artistic ethos in photography after all, and that’s what I’m talking about right now.
I’ve decided that I do like the natural light of the outdoors and I’ve also discovered that the best time and place for optimal photo opportunities is my backyard at around 4pm. Any earlier and I get shadows. Any later and it gets too dark and hazy. I’m sure this time will vary with the seasons, but right now, 4pm is my prime time.
Which sucks because by the time I get home and greet the kids and calm the dog and help with homework and take something out for dinner and perhaps go to the bathroom, that magic 4pm window has eluded me entirely.
My best bet is to do my photo shoots for the week the weekend prior, which is what I tried to do this go around but switching in and out of outfits and changing the makeup to go with said outfits and doing all this by yourself is a logistical nightmare. Now I understand how modeling is not all glitz and glam.
I know. First-world problems. I’m just sayin’…
Today’s offering, then, is photographed by the lurid light of my classroom fluorescents. Not a problem before, right? But now that I’ve seen the difference between this and that, I’m just so dissatisfied with this. This just doesn’t do the ensemble justice. Or me any favors.
But before this turns into a full-fledged whinefest, let’s just focus on the uber classy factor of this cardigan, the Audrey Hepburn-esque quality of unrelieved black with pearls, and the awesomeness that is my transformative black lace pencil skirt.
Oh, and a quick shout out to leopard pumps. Woot!
I’m really digging this Take One, Pass It On experiment. I may just have to continue with another item of clothing next week.
