Apparently, this top is famous.
I went to go find links for it, thinking I’d have to do a “similar” rather than the actual thing since it’s several seasons old. But, lo and behold! Not only did I find y’all a place to purchase it in multiple colors, I also discovered that it’s pretty darned popular in certain places of the United States.
My personal affinity for it lies in the fact that the sleeves are super tight – perfect for layering – but the cut is super swingy – perfect for wearing by itself. So it’s pretty darned versatile and can go multiple ways depending on how I want to style it.
Is it any surprise, then, that I bought it in multiple colors? How many, you ask? Enough to make this week Piko Power week. Yep, I’m gonna see how many ways I can gussy up this piece without looking repetitive and derivative. The weather is also cooperating and it looks like I’ll be able to finally play with layers.
NOTE: Initially, this week was to be Sweater Weather week and I pulled down all five of my winter wear tubs in anticipation of just that. Somehow, though, I got sidetracked by my Pikos and felt they needed some love. I’m thinking, if the weather holds, I’ll resume with my regularly scheduled broadcast and do sweaters then.
Today’s look was created specifically with Visible Mondays in mind. I like the premise behind it and I am in my middle years, so what the heck, right? And you can’t get any more visible than an oversized technicolor dreamcoat, colored skinnies and a neon scarf. (Trust me, it turns neon indoors.)
The outfit as a whole is saved from being too garish because I chose to pull specific colors from the cardi and mimicked them in the rest of the pieces. So although there’s a lot of color going on here, it still looks cohesive aesthetically.
This is a very boho look for me. The only thing missing is a floppy felt hat, but I figure that’d be just way too distracting for my students. Then again, that would’ve definitely put me over the top for Visible Monday, eh? Anyone wanna buy me a felt hat for Christmas?
