OOTD :: of cutting corners and the magic hour

As you may have already guessed from the backdrops, I took all my pics for the week in my backyard on Sunday.

I jumped the gun, however, and started at 3pm rather than 4, which is why Monday and Tuesday photos were taken in a different spot. (The sun was too high over my usual spot at 3.) Today’s outfit was taken in the transition time and I am now properly convinced that 4pm is the magic hour.

Because these shots look washed out and no amount of Photoshopping can save them from that. I swear to you that the green of my cardi is a rich forest/pine and the reds and pinks of the necklace really do pop. I suppose I could’ve just done a do-over, but it ended up being particularly warm on Sunday, and I was running up and down the stairs in between wardrobe changes, so I half-assed it.

Sue me.

Or just ignore my hyper critical whingeing and appreciate the ensemble for what it is: a comfy yet edgy look that successfully incorporates my plainest Piko top (what can be plainer than white?) without being too yawn-inducing. I think what makes the difference for me is the juxtaposition of the leggings’ camo print with the unexpected feminine touch of the necklace. Tough and sweet. Rough and refined.

Yeah, I can live with that.
