OOTD :: of sweggings part deux

Okay, so maybe it wasn’t a food baby.

It was something else female related, and that’s about as indelicate as I’m gonna get. When I made this realization, however, I almost scrapped today’s outfit because leggings + semi-bodycon winter white sweater dress + monthly friend = potential Stay Puft Marshmallow Man action.

But I’d already taken the pics and the light was waning and I didn’t have time for photos today and I’ve gotten spoiled with the outdoor shots and didn’t want to do an impromptu classroom one with a new outfit. Plus, Audrey inspired me to just go for it. And thus, I offer for your consideration, today’s ensemble that felt better in my head than IRL.

The sweggings are the neutral palette counterpart of these babies and are just as comfy. Better, even, because there’s no sagging and bagging at knee or bum, which is odd since they’re the exact same size from the exact same place. Go figure.

The boots are another tried-and-true item from years back. They’re Khombus again, and in case you hadn’t clicked on the shopping link from last time, I’d like to take this opportunity to point out that they’re warm. And waterproof. Of course, I’ve not gone slogging through snowdrifts so can’t attest to their true waterproof-ness, but they’re good enough for puddle jumping in SoCal/NoCal.

Are you noticing how I’m skillfully avoiding talking about the sweater? I’m clearly not happy with it. Yes, I know it’s clingy. Yes, I know it makes me look large. I was hoping the black puffer vest would slim it down but I’m thinking no dice. Ah, well. In front of the mirror, it made me do the Vivian booty dance. Maybe I’ll try it again some other time. Or should I just ditch the sweater? It is several years old and I’ve really only ever kept it because it was the only winter white thingy I owned at the time…

I think the sweater & the whole outfit looks great and no, not too clingy. I’m going to keep a look out for sweggings as I’m always cold.

May I ask where you found the inspiration collage for the post on “On Matt Smith & the 11th Doctor”? I love the styles of that very feminine white long sleeve shirt & below-knee length black skirt with ruffle/gathering(?), but being fairly new to interest in fashion & fashion blogs, I don’t know what to call such styles & hence how I would try to find them. If you happen to recall the link to that collage, that’d be great, and if you can’t find it, no worries.

I found your blog through Already Pretty & the link to your 30 days project. You have great ideas for themes & remixing your outfits!

The inspiration photo for Matt Smith was from Pinterest after doing a search for “11th Doctor fashion”. The original photo is someone’s collage from Tumblr. The style I think you’re after is Victorian/steampunk so you may want to search Google/Polyvore/Google under those terms for inspiration? I’ve done a few outfits in that aesthetic and can point you to some sources if you want. ;p

Ooooh! Am glad people can still access me via Already Pretty. It’s been a while since Sally posted that link. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you visit again.

  2. During certain times of the month, we just Feel like we’re Stay Puft size but it’s general in our own heads. You look great – cas and cozy!

Oooh … NO, don’t get rid of the sweater. This combo works way better than you think it does. The very first thought I had when I popped on to your page was “Cool. She’s rocking this look … how did she put it together?” A great time for tunic-length sweaters, I think, and the cowl is cool looking. As you know, the vest streamlines it … but I would not have thought of the long necklace. Perfect that you did! You just look casual-cozy-cute with polish.
Little black boots just set off your great legs, too.
Thanks for the tutorial … I have a similar sweater that needs a similar treatment! And sweater weather is on us here with the approaching ice storm. Wish me luck.

Ah, Jan! You’re so good for my ego! Thanks for stopping by again and good luck with your sweater. I wanna see pics!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
