OOTD :: of sequins and sass

It’s a pretty sad day when an English teacher/major has run out of things to say.

But I’m a bit at a loss for words today and I’m wondering if I’m having a case of the blogging blues. You see, I have now consistently posted for 300 consecutive days without break, and I really have not much to show for my efforts.

Oh, sure. I’ve broken the 100 mark in terms of followers. (Yay you for reading my blog!) And yes, I’ve shown marked improvement in my photography/collage making skills. (I cringe to look at my neophyte efforts from February.) But really, now that I’ve found my groove, I’m feeling the blunt edge of routine bludgeoning me into grudging submission.

Because let’s face it: I’m a novelty whore. And when I find myself doing the same thing, day in and day out, I start to get bored. And boredom breeds disinterest. And disinterest means I give up on things and move on to something new.

I guess I just need a goal. Yeah, that’s it. A goal. To keep me focused. To help me stay the course. To keep me peppy and blogging blues free. Anyone have any ideas?

While you ponder that, this is the inspiration for today’s outfit. Now here’s a gal who never runs out of things to say. Kudos to you, Angie! And thanks for giving me a new way to style last season’s sequined tank. I wasn’t feeling in the trouser mood, but wearing it over a button up and a faux leather skater gives this outfit just the right amount of sass.

:: Just the facts, ma’am ::
Button up – J.Crew thrifted
Top – ana @ Kohl’s (similar)
Skirt – H&M (similar)

  1. […] Lisa, this post is dedicated to you! Thanks again for the wonderful idea! […]

  2. When I started my blog way back when, I felt like I needed to blog as often as possible, but it started feeling like an unpaid second job after a while and I started really not enjoying myself. So I made the decision a while ago to blog because I want to, not because I felt like I had to (yes, this was a decision I made to make with myself, haha). I put myself on a psuedo-schedule of posting M-W-F, though I don’t give myself too much grief if I post more or less than that.
    This blogging thing is supposed to be fun – very few of us are going to get rich or famous from doing this. I think you should blog as often as you feel like it and blog about whatever you want, so it’s more fun. You could always mix it up and have “wordless wednesday” where you just post great pics but no copy or something else.
    I think the most important thing is to keep it fun for yourself or you’ll burn out!

      Wordless Wednesday! Yes! Lisa, I heart you so much!!! Thank you for the pep talk and for the wonderful idea. And yes, I’m not in it for the fame or the money. I would like this to be a fun adventure. I think what I like best is hearing from like-minded people in the style community and getting their feedback, so when I get great comments like yours, it just spurs me on. Again, thank you for the idea and also for following me. 😀

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
