OOTD :: of Thursday and thwarting taboos

thursday rest

I think if I was a SAHM, I would totally denounce every fashion taboo I’d ever set out for myself.

Oh, who am I kidding? I’d do that in a heartbeat even if I wasn’t a SAHM. Thing is, ever since I started this blog, I’ve begun to realize that the key to not stagnating – both in blogging and in fashion – is to never stop experimenting. And another thing is that my lovely pre-menopause body is constantly changing, so all the style rules get thrown out the window in what seems like a weekly basis anyway.

Take today’s offering: I’m wearing a crew neck graphic tee with words on it and pairing it with a midi skirt and flats. How many fashion no-nos can you spot in that sentence?

But it looks good, doesn’t it? I mean, if I do say so myself. Perhaps it’s the Doctor Who-themed shirt. Perhaps it’s the skirt pockets. Perhaps I’m just getting less judgy in my old age. Regardless, I think my “at rest” outfit could actually stand on its own as an “in motion” ensemble, fashion faux pas notwithstanding.

If you want to kick it up a notch, though, you can never go wrong with tucking and layering. Besides accessorizing, these two tricks of the trade can truly elevate any outfit and make you feel polished and put together in a matter of effortless seconds.
