OOTD :: of double trouble and dottiness

This week’s theme was borne of spring cleaning my closet.

To be honest, I was procrastinating. I didn’t feel like lesson planning or thinking of a blog theme, much less creating outfits, so I decided to give my closet an overhaul instead. In the process, I stumbled upon this fun peplum top from H&M that I purchased about a season and a half ago but never actually wore.

Tee hee.

On a whim, I pulled on my flirty polka dot skirt then got really excited. For some reason, the plethora of dots actually appealed to me. And thus, a theme is born. I present to you this week: Double Trouble.

What is that exactly? It means I’m going to take a pattern and make it do double duty for me; that is, all my outfits this week will have two items sporting the same pattern. Fun, ne?

Today, obviously, is dots on dots. I think it works and doesn’t make me look like I got dressed in the dark because the colors coordinate. Even the splash of orange clicks. Rather than putting the whole thing over the top, the fact that it’s a solid rather than a pattern helps ground the look. Add matching orange lipstick and silver accessories, and you’ve got a great ensemble to kick off this week’s theme.

And it works for Visible Monday too. Gotta love multi-tasking!

    • Thankee kindly! I think taking pics with a slight wind helps give it that movement in some of the shots. I feel all super model-esque! 😀

    • Thank you muchly! I did wake up this morning and the winds were a-whippin’ so I traded the silver pumps for knee-high boots, which I think upped the cool ante more than the cute. ;p

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
