I would normally not wear a dress with heels on a Friday.
But dapperdolly @ Substance and Style does this thing where she defies the convention of casual Fridays and actually dresses up at the end of the week. So I decided to try my hand at being subversive myself, and wouldn’t you know, I kinda like it.
It helps that dresses are so effortless – no coordinating or remixing need apply. The hardest thing for me was figuring out how to tie the scarf correctly so it covered the very deep, plunging v-neck of the dress’s bodice (it’s there, trust me) without looking like I’m being strangled by plaid. (I think I managed it, and in doing so, I’ve successfully completed this week’s theme.)
It also helps that these pumps are the ultimate in comfort. I’m slowly but surely convinced that Payless shoes are not to be maligned, lower end stigma and all. Their Comfort Plus line is a godsend to people like me who suffer from foot pain but want to avoid orthopedic-looking footwear for as long as possible.
So yeah, these pumps make me feel like I’m wearing flats. That, coupled with the ease of a dress, proves to me that Fancy Fridays can indeed be accomplished without having to surrender comfort.
