OOTD :: of lucky purchases and hybrid style

So I don’t know about you, but a suit just screams “fancy” to me. And yet Chucks are the ultimate in comfort and TGIF wear. I suppose, then, that today’s outfit is a Fancy Friday/TGIF hybrid.

The suit was a lovely surprise. Purchased initially on eBay for the blazer alone, I was getting ready to chuck the pants because, let’s face it – buying pants on eBay is always a crap shoot. I was crossing my fingers that they’d work, though, because the whole thing just fits the whole David Tennant vibe I’d been searching for since the resurgence of my Doctor Who obsession.

I wasn’t too concerned about the purchase, though, because this particular eBay seller offered returns if not satisfied. But wouldn’t you know, I actually caught a break this time. The blazer settled across my linebacker shoulders like it was tailored for me. And the pants? Buttoned successfully with nary a muffin in sight. Plus, the length was just right.

My only quibble is that the trousers didn’t come with pockets. I’m thinking perhaps I can have pockets sewn in since I’m already planning to have the hips taken in anyway (they’re hidden by the long blazer and shirt in the pics). Otherwise, I’m in love with this suit. And for a mere $40, I’m able to channel my inner 10th Doctor and swan about town in style while ever ready for action and loads and loads of running in my trusty Chucks.

I’d probably have to ditch the pearls, though.

    • Oh, third best compliment this week! You don’t know what that means to me – I’ve been struggling with my “blogging voice” (ironic since I struggle tot each voice ot my high school kids daily) and didn’t think I had it down yet. Thanks for the follow and I hope I continue to amuse. 😀

  1. I don’t know about the Chucks or the 10th doctor, but the suit is just cool! It doesn’t strike me as too fancy, and I think you could do a lot of fun Annie Hall type outfits with it.

  3. It says fancy to me too 🙂 – love that shade of Brown too, mellow yet ‘cool’ and you wear it with a ‘I’m too cool for school daddy-yo’ finesse too 😀

Your accessories are always awesome and the necklaces with those Pink sneakers – got style and flair in your bones! I also love the lining of the jacket, I had similar in a couple of knee length smart jackets I got from ‘TopShop’ some years back, that retro theme really gives them an oomph.

Lol it’s kinda funny, I had planned to be a bit smarter today but had to go a bit more comfy because I’ve been hobbling the last few days so I’m wearing walking shoes too though I hid them haha, they’re not fashionable or cute! I also wore my shirt out – love it 😀

P.S Totally taking your second pic/collage to add to my Friday post!

    • I read your hobble post but didn’t leave a comment because I a) didn’t know how to express empathy without sounding contrived because b) I’ve never experienced chilblains or foot problems other than throbbing pre-bunion woes. I actually thought chilblains were a Victorian ailment that no longer applied, but I guess they’re more a cold-weather ailment that is still alive and well today.

The pink sneaks – or are they trainers? – were a last-minute inspiration. Initially, they were my black ones but the pink picks out the pink pinstripe et voila! I’m thinking of getting a pair of Chucks in every color. What say you?

P.S. Thanks for taking my pic for your blog. So flattered and honored!

      • That’s ok, I don’t expect replies lol I’m just glad I was ok to walk around yesterday for our first Friday collab! 😀 Ya know another ailment associated with Victorian times is becoming common again in modern lifestyle – gout! o_o

We call them trainers but being a reflector of all things American we accept ‘sneakers’ too 😛 There was even a chocolate bar called Marathon that changed its name to Snickers years ago and at the time everyone kept thinking of the title are referring to US running shoes instead of candy! I think you made choice with the Pink – they enhanced the outfit even more and showed off your flair. Lol if you find Chucks in every colour there’s not much stopping you!

I’ve updated the post with the pics from all the ladies I’ve seen who posted. Thanks for the awesome idea on collaborating Maricel, it’s great to link up like this!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
