OOTD :: of last-minute wardrobe changes

Perhaps I was a bit too optimistic. It is winter after all.

But I also live in Southern California where we not only have the mildest of winters (60-degree lows, anyone?) but we also have vast amounts of land that lend themselves to microclimates. So it may start out cold in one city in the morning but it’ll inevitably warm up in the afternoon in another city that’s a mere twenty minutes away.

Can you blame me, then, for thinking I could get away with the outfit above when I was creating last weekend? It was a balmy 75ºF when I was doing my photo shoot after all.

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men…

Today, it’s a blasted 60ºF and change with a chance of rain and there was no way I was gonna go swanning about the halls in stilettos and a flimsy cardi. In anticipation of this weather change, I switched out some key elements et voilà! I present the real OOTD:

Just call me Superman sans telephone booth. (Btw, if people use cellphones anymore and telephone booths are a thing of the past, where would Clark Kent get changed?) Anyhoo…what both outfit iterations have in common is the “fancy” element. Chiffon maxi in look-at-me-now plaid? Check. High heels? Check. Neck bling? Check. That’s a trifecta of fanciness, folks. I think Dolly would be proud.

The real outfit is def better – it has a little edge. I like the mix of moto jacket and boots with the long skirt, and I like the photos where you smile!

  2. Both looks are great, but I really prefer the 2nd look. In fact, it’s my favorite of the week! I just love the juxtaposition of the leather moto jacket with the flowy chiffon skirt.

I still like the blue plaid pants outfit the best but yes, I agree that I feel a lot more comfortable in the 2nd outfit. I’m just a rocker chic at heart, I guess. ;p

Hehe I was updating my post as you were writing to me, yah I was surprised that your post wasn’t up when I looked but after I’d posted I noticed that yours had come so went back to update 😀

You look F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S I love the original and the after looks, supremo elegant to biker chic! Wonderba! You always have the best accessories too.

Cheers for the shout-out ’tis what linkups are about and it’s great! 😀 Oh my dress is taffeta, I’m not usually one to wear it but this one worked, there’s some really cute retro dresses around in metallics too.

The best accessories come from eBay, my friend! ;p And I hope you join me in my link up when it launches in February. Would love to see what you’re reading then and how you interpret it.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
