5 Things :: what spirit is made of

So it’s that time of the year once again, my friends. That time when I eschew my style dictates and allow myself to be led down the primrose path to potential sartorial faux pas.

I’m talking about Spirit Week, of course.

Sure, it only happens once every two months or so. And sure, I usually go gangbusters on the first one then taper off my enthusiasm to the point of non-participation by May. But this time around, the second Spirit Week of the school year, I’ve chosen to rise to the challenge and try to match my daily blog parameters to the school’s chosen theme days. And I’m also going to attempt to continue joining in on my regularly scheduled link ups.

It’s gonna be bonkers, folks. Is it any wonder that I’ve decided to give myself a break from my weekly theme and just roll with what’s on hand?

And because I’m totally OCD an inveterate planner, I’ve created a visual plan of attack/calendar for myself. I present to you, then, my 5 style challenges in this order: Spirit Day, MCC daily theme, link up (if at all).

1. Monday – Pajama Day, Visible Monday*, Short over Long theme at 52 Pick-me-up

2. Tuesday – Celebrity Day, TARDIS Tuesday, TrΓ¨s Chic Style Bits

3. Wednesday – Winter Wonderland Day, Wordless Wednesday, WIWW

4. Thursday – Crazy Socks Day, Thrifted Thursday, Hat Attack

5. Friday – Class Color Day, Fancy Friday*

*represents both MCC daily theme and link up

Wish me luck, my friends. I think I’m gonna need it.

  1. Wow, you are gonna be a busy lady! Good Luck! And nice little wrap up showing all your lovely plaid. I now want to alter my pants again. Your plaid pants in the top right corner are da bomb! So what’s your next theme going to be?

My next theme after Spirit Week, you mean? ‘Coz this upcoming week is all about keeping myself afloat with all these fashion “obligations”. Maybe I’ll just call it Spirit Insanity? ;p

  2. Well, Tuesday shouldn’t be too bad – The Doctor is totally a celebrity. πŸ™‚

I watch some anime too. Mostly DBZ.

    • mtsedwards says:

Oh, you just wait, lady! Tuesday is gonna be a doozy! And you know, I never got into DBZ, even though it’s the granddaddy of anime here in the US. Kinda like I never could get into Tolkein even though I’m a self-professed fantasy nerd.

Wow schools over there have so many special occasions/celebrations (e.g. dances) it’s so cool! We don’t have any of that over here except in private schools though in the last few years school proms have been introduced to state schools.

It will take a lot of work but if anybody can do it, and do it with flair, you can!

Correction – double checking over the sheer amount of themes you’ve got going on each day – it will take a LOT of thinking *pats you on the back* but you will do it, I know you can! πŸ˜€

Damnit I never type as fast as I think – there’s an anime called Mainichi Kaasan’ which translates into [Everyday] Mom’s Life where the mother is a manga artist, has two kids, a dog, a not entirely helpful live-in mother and a deadbeat husband. The show is hilarious simply because many people can relate to it, but seriously the deadlines, the stress and the lack of sleep – reminded me of this post O_O

You watch anime!? You. Watch. Anime.

We are truly kindred spirits!!! You are the me I want to be, right down to living in the greatest country ever. ;p

Thanks for the back pats; I think I managed to plan successful outfits around ALL the themes but I may need your validation on my Friday outfit when I link up with you then.

Yes I’ve seen quite a bit πŸ˜€ I’m not that into the mainstream shonen but some are ok/watchable for a period of time before they get too monotonous. I love weird comedies the most like Arakawa Under the Bridge, but really anything as long as there isn’t any ecchi or a lot of fan service. Some beautiful, serious ones like mushishi appeal to me even though they’re tragic. There’s some really awesome Canadian cartoons as well like Detentionaire – amazing how revealing that is, and Skyland.

You don’t want to me hun, you’d have to lose a lot/the things closest to you over and over again. But yeah it’s nice to have similar interests πŸ™‚

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
