OOTD :: of Custo Barcelona and fancying Friday

I blame it all on Dolly @ Substance AND Style.

She was the one who introduced me to Custo Barcelona and their fantabulous tops with this post. I was instantly entranced by the bold graphics and shameless color combinations. I especially fell in love with the bell sleeves in the first photo. I was hooked, my friends, and we all know what that meant.

Mad Hunt time.

I tried Custo’s website first. The good news is that they ship to the states. The bad news is that, like J.Crew, they were painfully out of my price range. (Dolly did say she got hers at clearance.) So it was off to eBay for me. And after several weeks and a couple false leads (I’m a 4, not a 3 in their sizing), I managed to score two uh-mazing tops. Granted, they’re not as uh-mazing as Dolly’s, but I thought they were pretty. And they were acquired at the right price too.

Anyhow, wouldn’t you know, this one arrived just in time for Anne’s week of pink. Plus it goes perfectly with my maxi skirt which I’d intended to wear today anyway in honor of Dolly’s Fancy Friday. OMgosh! It’s as if the blogging gods were smiling on me!

So I dedicate today’s post to you, my dear Dolly. Not only am I all gussied up for your linkup, but I’m doing it in a top that was inspired by you. Thanks to you, I am well and thoroughly addicted to this brand. I’ve still got eBay sending me updates whenever a new Custo top in a size 4 gets listed, so here’s hoping I eventually find at least three more* that’s half as awesome as yours.

*so I can do a Custo theme week. Ehehe.

  1. […] my Mad Hunt for them several months ago? Since then, I have acquired over half a dozen Custos but because those darned Europeans are so […]

OMG! I LOVE Custo! (Big surprise, right?) I found a shop on Robertson that sold them in the late 90s (too lazy to research name of shop, so not sure if it’s still there). Yes, $50 for a tee is out of my budget too, but I HAD TO HAVE SOME. The pattern mixing is so great! I was smaller when I bought them — if they survived one of my more brutal closet purges, I’ll give you one.

To torture you further, do you know of Desigual? Another Spanish company that does pattern mixing and embellishments. Also $$$, but they have good sales. They have lots of retail stores in the US, including the 3rd St Promenade.

OMGosh! If you have any spare Custo about, I will gladly give them a good home! o_o

And yes, I know of Desigual. During my Mad Hunt for Custo on eBay and realizing most Custo on sale there were for teeny tiny women (very few size L/4 up fro grabs), I went the Desigual route. Sadly, even on ebay, they were too much for me. 😦

Wowee! This is some fabulous pinkness. Now I have to go checkout this custo business.

I know, right?! I’m just ridiculously thrilled that, once again, all my disparate pieces came together. Who knew the top and the skirt and the flats would all be the same hue of pink? Brilliant!

What can I say – you look breathtaking in those shades of pink, and the top with that skirt is simply gorgeous! Lol I love the first pose especially 😀

Definitely a WOW outfit, I broke out in a massive grin before even scrolling down.

Thank you for the post, I take the blame of introducing you to this brand lol – but I can say that you are perfectly suited to the unique images, vibrance and colour! The idea of a custo week really would be something and I know you’d rock it! Haha love it.

My post is going to be a tad late today like yesterday but I’m getting there lol – will link up with ya then.

    All the best!

Almost missed you. Was in a meeting when you posted yours and had to sneak in the proper link to your blog on my phone. LOL.

I think I’m about all Custo-ed out. But, at the end of the day, I scored some really nice pieces and I can’t wait to showcase them. The only thing I’m realizing is that they’re all cut so short! For someone who likes to wear ’em loose and long, this poses a unique problem: wear them by themselves or throw a longer layering piece underneath. Today’s top barely met my length requirement; see me tugging at it in the third batch of pics? Are they always so short or is it just because I’m buying them pre-owned and they may have been shrunk?

Hmm well it’s better to be satisfied at least than to continue the urge to keep shopping for them 🙂

Now that you mention it – the Pink and Black/Green one I have are cut just under my gut. The Red one is a bigger and longer fit though but it’s also thicker than those two. Those two are super soft and thin, almost filmy in texture whereas the Red one is more like regular tops so it probably depends on the top/line it came from.

With the shorter ones you’ve got you could wear them over or under high waisted items or something with a belt? My trousers tend to be cut on the waist rather than low cut to the hips so I haven’t had an issue with them showing anything.

      “Custo week”? Ears prick up.

  5. SMH, you and your Mad Hunts. 😉

    YOU inspired my post today!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
