OOTD :: of Blue Hawaiians and faux florals

Hullo, Wordless Wednesday! Thank you for preventing me from having to justify this dress as “floral” (even though it’s clearly not but has the feel of floral so, yeah), thus allowing me to link up with Caitlin. Blue Hawaiian, anyone?

  1. I’ve chosen this to be one of my “What I Love” looks for this week. I hope you’ll keep an eye out on my blog today.

Cute! Can I have your f21 chain print blouse please?????

No need to justify that dress – it’s pretty and you look great in it! I’m not sure I’ve even had a Blue Hawaiian, but it’s clever of you to think of it. Can’t wait to see what we’re drinking tomorrow!

Oh, I think you’ll like tomorrow’s cocktail. ;p And with so many lovely compliments, I guess I’ll keep this dress. Maybe it just needs a thicker belt…

  4. That is a gorgeous dress and great colors on you!

I’m missing too many wonderful blogs, and yours especially. Lovely dress all in itself, but especially good on you. Sooooo pretty, you in this adorable piece.
I’ve been wondering if pastel shoes will work with deeper prints, and now I have my answer. Oh, yes they do!
Blue Hawaiian. OMG. They bring up a shameful moment in my youth. On my honeymoon, (another huz, another lifetime, early 70s) we dined at the House of Hong in Honolulu. Very snazzy, lovely place surrounded by Asian antiques, with a looooong, dimly lit, red velvet carpeted staircase from street to second floor dining room. I was so young, so unused to distilled spirits. I sucked down a couple of Blue Hawaiis on an empty stomach, and had to be carried down the stairs by a hefty and charming barman … the fear was that I’d trip on my long dress and kill myself.
The room was spinning, but the view from the top of a long staircase when you’re as inibriated as I was tilting and terrifying. Not my best moment. Can’t take Blue Curacao to this day. No surprise, huh?

Oh, poor thing! If it’s any consolation, I can totally commiserate. Only, my poison was tequila. Shudder.

Like that shot of icy pastel with the blue jewel tones, do ya? That was pure inspiration, my friend! ;p

I have never had a Blue Hawaiian, but you do a good job channeling one ; )

  7. Wonderful spring-y dress, Maricel. The drink looks so refreshing too : >

I’m fussing with it as we speak, Patti. It’s another eBay purchase that I regret not being able to try on first. It’s too big and long for me so I’m gonna talk to my magic tailor and see if she can fix it. Otherwise, it’s a one-hit wonder and will go directly into my shop for $9.99. 😦

  8. I like the faux floral – your mojito dress had a faux floral vibe too. 🙂

My thought process exactly! You get me, girl! And yes, I know I’m early today, but I realized there was no reason for me to set my posts to go live at 8:30 am PST anymore when they’re usually done by weekend’s end. Also, I wanted to see if I could get in before the 100 mark over at Pleated Poppy’s linkup – she’s so popular – and I was still #118! Ah, well. You can’t win ’em all. ;p

      • I’m thrilled that your post is up earlier! I usually do mine way ahead of time and schedule them for 7:00 am EST (because that’s when I usually have time to read blogs). I like The Broke and the Bookish’s Top Ten Tuesday link up because they rotate the order of links.

        • mtsedwards says:

Yeah, I’m so West Coast-centric that I forget about my other coast sistahs. ;p What do you mean they rotate the order of links? Like, randomly?

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
