OOTD :: of cetaceans and crazy socks

Cutting it close, M!

Today is the last day to link up with Anne @ Spy Girl. I actually flirted with the possibility of not participating in 52 Pick-me-up this go-around because I don’t own any socks beyond the garden-variety white no-shows. But then, like manna from heaven – or like an eight-year-old who’s earned prizes for selling loads of Girl Scout nuts – a pair of fun knee highs fell into my lap.

Aren’t these the most adorable things? They’ve got whales on them! And they’re blue! Sure, they’re not exactly TARDIS blue, but there’s enough there for me to pull from and justify the cardi.

I tried to keep it all neutral so the socks were the star of the show, but I just couldn’t resist mixing it up with the scarf. Guess I’m just a sucker for pattern mixing, eh?

I do think the uber tassels of the scarf match exactly the color of the skirt, which tones down the potential in-your-facedness of the ensemble. Throw in a pair of subdued booties and the schoolgirl with a ‘tude vibe is complete.

Crazy socks for Anne’s linkup? Check. Free crazy socks for Free for All week? Yes, please. Blue for TARDIS Tuesday? Was there ever any doubt?

Aw now this is super cute looking *(^_^)*

Thank you, m’dear. Of course, my IT guy at work (and resident critique of all things life) told me today that I looked like a Lolita. I didn’t know whether to be flattered or appalled. ;p

  2. The bold blue with the cream is a pretty color combo!

    • mtsedwards says:

I do like it. Am wondering if I have more items in my closet so I can replicate the color combo. Thanks for stopping by, Lisa! 🙂

  3. Aww, you look like an anime character – too cute!

    • mtsedwards says:

Well, this anime character realized that there are some skirts that are too short, even for her five-foot-nothing stature. I kept glancing at myself in the mirror all day and becoming slightly horrified at the length. No one said anything but I felt naked and that’s not a good feeling at work so into the laundry and onto my store it goes. Sigh. Does this mean I can purchase a skirt to replace it? ;p

Oh, how this tickles my pattern maxing soul! Your color story speaks volumes. Thanks for linking! xxox

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
