OOTD :: of bare arms, bright colors, and joy

Remember when I would never have gone out in public baring my arms?

Yeah, those were also the days I felt uncomfortable – nay, nauseated! – in front of a camera.

Nowadays, I feel I’ve come into my own and am a lot more confident in my skin, jiggles and wrinkles and sagging and all.

I think my embracing color has a lot to do with my fashion fearlessness. There’s something about vibrant hues that make me happy. And when I’m happy, I don’t think so much about being self-conscious or lacking or inferior. Wearing pieces that are bright – the more blinding the better – reminds me to smile wider, to stride stronger. I become an altogether better person to myself and, subsequently, to those around me.

I wonder if one can write prescriptions for color?

Today, then, on the last official day of Spring Break, let’s take a moment to be happy and giddy and twirly and bright. Let’s celebrate almost-Easter in orange and yellow and pink and throw on a coordinating bauble to ramp up the color factor. Let’s wear peplum and not have to worry about muffin tops. Let’s cheese for the camera and give three huzzahs for Fancy Friday.

Let’s be happy.

These photos are amazing – the colours work so well for you, and you just look like you’re having so much fun! 🙂

Oh, thanks for stopping by and for the kind words! I look like I’m having fun because Friday photos are the last of the batch (I take all my weekly OOTD shots in one day) and I know my mission is complete right after. LOL.

Another lover of the print and colours and overall vibrance here! I also love the flow of the skirt, great pairing with the peplum and great poses!

Thanks muchly! I’ve recently been struggling with posing since I feel I’m running out of ways to put my body. Now I understand why a lot of my blogger friends have their tried-and-true stances – it makes picture taking so much more efficient.

You look gorgeous! You exude confidence, and those bright colors look amazing on you! I just hope that your husband took you out to show you off (or kept you home and, well, whatever…).

    • mtsedwards says:

Since my mother in law lives with us, that “whatever” is few and far between. And my hubs doesn’t get home early enough to take me out and show me off. So thank goodness I have my blogging friends who are my life affirmation coaches. 😀

  4. You look gorgeous and happy! Bright colors always make me feel better too. And I’m loving that peplum top.

    • mtsedwards says:

Yeah, that peplum top was a total score on Boohoo. It’s actually a bit big for me but when I tried to exchange for a smaller size, I found they were all sold out so I’m keeping this one and having my tailor have a go at it.

P.S. Why have I not been following your blog. Silly me! Just fixed that right quick!

  5. yes, let’s be happy! I feel happier just seeing you in these bright colors.

I think you look elegant in the dark colors, but gorgeous in the brights. And yes, you prescribed color to me, and it’s done wonders!

  7. Maricel!! I love your post today! I will indeed take your advice and be happy and giddy and twirly and bright. You are radiant in your photos today…loving the colour, {well, of course} and the flowered peplum top over the twirly skirt! Yeppers! Definitely enjoying re-reading your words today! Happy!!!

I don’t think the quintessential happy lady needs advice from little ol’ me. You just keep on being you, Sue! We’re all jut living in your world. ;p

  8. Confidence suits you! I think this the most beautiful I’ve ever seen you – which is saying a lot, as you are always beautiful!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
