OOTD :: of summer, hats, and being subversively casual

So I guess we managed to fast forward from spring into summer in the span of mere days, eh?

Because let’s face it: this is a decidedly summery ensemble. Long sleeves notwithstanding, I can totally see myself wearing this for a leisurely day of malling and errand running in the upcoming weeks. (Weeks! Is it really only mere weeks left? I can’t wait for the holidays!)

I think the cheeky hat is what really tips the scales into vacation territory, which is a shame because y’all know I won’t be wearing it in the classroom. Without it, the full effect of the outfit will be somewhat diminished but I’m still linking up with Style Crone’s Hat Attack because I think Judith’ll forgive me even if I don’t sport the outfit in all its full chapeau-ed glory.

I’m a bit apprehensive about wearing this look to work, even without the hat, though. It’s way below my usual level of formality, and it must be a testament to my current frame of mind that I even created something so relaxed, let alone dared wear it. Call this my nod to Casual Friday and my wishful thinking for summer break to start already. And hey, at least I’ve got yellow covered, haven’t I?

Now if I could just decide whether to wear my hair up or down…
