OOTD :: of overcoming the green curse

I don’t do green. I have reconciled myself to this.

We all remember my struggles every time St. Paddy’s Day rolls around because of this very sad fact. So although I admire it on others and have numerous outfit Pins to prove it, I have never really been successful in styling this troublesome color.

But perhaps this shirt will break the cycle? A Joe Fresh number that sang to me from the depths of the sale rack, I knew I had to have it simply for the fun repeating pattern alone. Are they hearts? Butterfly wings? Half an apple? Who cares? It’s super fun! And it’s green!

Of course, once the rush of spontaneous purchasing died down and I brought my prize home, I was once again at a loss. It shouldn’t have been so hard, right? At its very core, it’s a simple button down shirt. And flowy silk to boot. Styling this should be right in my wheelhouse. But I stared and pondered, hemmed and hawed, and at the end, regretfully decided to turn around and return the darned thing for want of a proper outfit.

Once again, though, Anne and her Pick-me-up challenge came to the rescue because Pattern Overload made me rethink my approach. On a whim, I threw on my newly-acquired Thakoon skirt, and voilà! Pattern mixing magic! Who woulda thunk it? I think I may just have this green curse beat after all.

I do feel I’ve mastered the art of pattern mixing. Let’s hope it doesn’t date me in the future.

Look: same day, no ramble. Harumph.

      “Same day, no ramble”? Eh?

And thank you for lifting the curse. Now to find even more ways to use this top…

Yes! It works! ps: Chartreuse is green.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
