WIT :: of another round of randomosity

Can you blame me? It’s the end of the year blahs. I’m actually surprised I’ve not gotten to this point sooner. But then again, I REALLY enjoyed my students this year. Heck, I didn’t even use up half of my ten allotted sick days when normally they’re all gone by May!

Still, everyone’s gotta have a breaking point and I guess I’m calling in my chips today. After two solid weeks of assessments, my brain is fried and all I’m really capable of at the moment is a round of randomosity

Hrm…alliteration and a meme that’s already made a previous appearance? I may just Photoshop a button and call it another semi-regular feature on the blog. 😜

1.  I seem to get a lot more compliments/comments when I wear light lipstick as opposed to dark.

2.  Do all dogs sleep like this or is it just Jack the Beast?

3.  Sing with me: Brown paper packages tied up with strings; these are a few of my favorite Pins! Try this, this or possible even this.

4.  Because Emerson said so: “Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

5.  Harry Potter as an anime? Yes, please!

6.  Upcoming June books I’m slavering for: Leigh Bardugo’s Ruin and Rising; Allen Zadoff’s I Am the Mission;  Y.S. Lee’s Rivals in the City

7.  Is it a travesty or simply an inevitable sign of the times that, rather than good old board games like Clue or Sorry!, I play online apps like Hanging With Friends with my children? While we sit next to each other, even.

8.  Why is it that when I’m putting on my face in the morning or in the shower at night, I think up all kinds of random things for times like these, but when I’m actually committing to writing them down in an official list, nothing comes to mind?

9.  I wanna learn how to sew but that has always been my MIL’s purview and she’s the one that owns the machine and I don’t want to initiate something that’ll open up cans of worms that I don’t want disturbed. (See what I did there with my mixed metaphors? Yeah. Brain fried.)

10.  And finally, you’re gonna wanna turn up the sound to 11 for this one…

I want a familiar – like Maleficent’s Diaval – to do my bidding, writing down my thoughts being my main bidding. ;p

    I love that Emerson quote : )

  3. No, it’s not just Jack…my bulldog and my sheltie both sleep in that strange position…glad I’m not the only one that photographs it! Ha!

  4. Patti says:

Oh # 8 slays me. And my memory’s not getting better!

That video is fabulosity squared! They’re consummate professionals to hit the same marks each time.

I loved your pins, especially the one with all the tips. But I’ll never remember them.

I know, right? When Pinterest first started, I went hog wild and acquired a huge catalogue of “useful” Pins, but without a clear way to sort it, they all just get lost in the shuffle and cease to be useful. I probably need to cull my Pins this summer. Or at least remember what I’ve got.

  6. I’m a big fan of board games, but if your kids are more digitally wired there are a lot of apps available for board games. Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and Smallworld would all be great with your kids!

  7. Yes, it is a travesty, and what a super fun youtube! You have a great weekend.

  8. Elba Ortega says:

Oh and btw, that was supposed to say Maricel, not natively. Wt?? iPhone.

  9. Elba Ortega says:

Natively, my mom is a seamstress and I never learned to see either. I really regret it. However, I came across this little sewing studio in Atwater village. They teach you there on your own assigned machine. I’m thinking about taking a few classes…

Too bad we don’t live closer to each other. We could take on this adventure together and keep the other from flaking. It’s always best to start something new with a pal. right?

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
