OOTD :: of casual dressing and physician owls

I don’t think you all have seen me so dressed down since the Physics of Motherhood week I did during winter break last year.

In fact, this outfit looks suspiciously like this one, right down to the Doctor Who-themed graphic tee. We have come a long way, baby, for me to deliberately and willingly wear such a stripped down ensemble in public. And to work, even. I must be channeling my inner Debbie @ Fashion Fairy Dust who does understated casual in a glam and professional way. I hope my attempt does her justice.

Debbie notwithstanding, this look was consciously inspired by Caitlin’s T-shirt Remix challenge. Now, I don’t think I’ve made this tee look particularly amazing, per se, but then again, it’s a Doctor Who tee. Bonus points for it being a punny Doctor Who tee. ‘Nuff said, right?

If you must have some sort of style validation of amazing, however, how about giving me props for the super shiny silver loafers that elevate the outfit from bland to bling? And how’s about some brand name cachet by my sporting a Rodarte cardi? Finally, for the DIY set, whaddaya think of that skirt which was originally this but, in the magical hands of my in-house tailor, has found a new lease on life? (I suppose I could’ve left it a dress and just worn stuff over it, but skirts are more versatile, yeah?)

It’s T minus 3 days and counting. Can you blame me for transitional dressing?

(Oh, and also: long tee over short skirt!)

  2. Ha! Thanks for the shout out! Funny thing is, I was looking at the pics thinking, “Look at her rockin’ the graphic tee and flats at work…we’d be too cool if we taught together…” And then I’m reading and had to stop and back up because you were talking about me…took me a minute…lol! You look fabulous. Hope you weren’t too far out of your comfort zone!

    • I’m telling ya – we’d be uber awesome together! But then again, if we did teach together, I’d be raiding your closet every week!

I wasn’t too far out of ye ol’ comfort zone because I think I’m going through yet another style metamorphosis. I wouldn’t be surprised if next school year, I chuck out all my heels and wore everything with Chucks, flats and loafers and if my graphic tee collection makes more of an appearance at work.

  3. I love this! You know how I feel about comfy but cute ; ) Do you feel good in it? It looks like you do!

    • I did feel good in it, especially the cardi, but I do think I’m not a flats person. My feet hurt at the end of the day, but for different reasons from the hurt from heels. Must investigate more options…

    • I never take your admiration for granted, m’dear. And yes, I do feel seven now that the dress is a skirt, and definitely in that good young-at-heart kind of way!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
