Treasure Tuesday :: of balls, beaches, bombers, and Henry Hudson

Welcome to Treasure Tuesday! This is the second in a series as conceived by Greenthumb and interpreted by me.

Although her protocol is for participants to take all their pictures to her prompts and publish them in a single post, I’m going to break mine down in bite-sized portions.

Just because.

Yay, summer!

Presenting June’s second installment:

Soccer: So I had these grand plans of featuring my intrepid T.A. for this one because she lives, breathes, eats soccer and is pretty much a walking poster child for the sport. Sadly, the last week of school was mayhem and that picture, planned or otherwise, just wasn’t happening. She was kind enough to send me a pretty awesome pic of herself afterwards but I felt that was cheating. I was planning a special trip to the local soccer field and just try for a literal photo, but the scavenger hunt gods smiled on me and allowed me to snap this gem. Thank you, IKEA!

Puppet: If there was one thing that needed to be interpreted metaphorically, it’d be puppets. IMHO, puppets are just one red rubber nose away from clowns and clowns scare the bejeezus outta me, so I was not looking forward to thinking about, let alone keep an eye out for a puppet photo op. Aly to the rescue, of course! When I showed her the latest hunt list, she did the 9-year-old eye roll (the one that’s still cute and not scornfully defiant yet) and reminded me of Dylan’s 5th grade explorers project that required a research paper and a…wait for it…puppet. Henry Hudson’s certainly no clown and was happy to pose for posterity.

Water: “Water, water, every where, And all the boards did shrink; Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink.” Thank goodness we were unlike the Ancient Mariner and had plenty of bottled agua in a cooler, but check out that shot of the Pacific Ocean. Now that’s some serious H2O!

You again?: Gotta love recycling! Some of you may remember this outfit from last week’s photo shoot. This was one of the outtakes and it was on its way to being deleted when Aly (again!) pointed out that it was the perfect tableau for this hunt topic. Because my dog is the ultimate photo bomber and yes, I always think in my head “You again?” every time he comes and interrupts a perfectly scheduled shoot. At least he’s photogenic.

  1. Sue says:

    For a minute or so I thought your dog’s name was Henry Hudson . . . πŸ™‚

    • mtsedwards says:

Yes, but if it was, then my hubs wouldn’t have the wicked pleasure of yelling “Jack! Off!” whenever our very jumpy cattle dog leaps on people.

  2. That pic of Aly is awesome! She’s too funny. 😜

    • mtsedwards says:

Yes, she’s one of those enviable people who look good in photos no matter what face she’s making. I wish she’d inherited that from me.

  3. I can’t believe we haven’t met your dog before…and nameless…You know he now deserves his own post.

    • mtsedwards says:

And this Sunday’s 5 Things feature will now be about my dog. 😁 Thanks for the idea, Sue! πŸ‘

I am really loving your summer arrangement (DH is blathering on about social security news so I can’t really come up with the word I want)! Your daughter is such a smart little cookie and quite adorable, too! And, is that honestly your ocean view? Woe to me in landlocked Indiana! I was definitely a beach girl in another life…there’s just something about the sound of he never ending surf…but I digress…I am really enjoying everything about your new format (he stopped talking and the word popped into my head)!

    • mtsedwards says:

Alas, that is an ocean view from a beach that’s 43 miles and two hours away from my house. But it was totally worth the trip.

And thanks for the encouragement on my summer format. I was wondering if it was gonna put a crimp in my blogging mojo but I’ve actually been able to relax and enjoy it this way.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
