OOTD :: of reveals, revelations, and hot pink flats

For your consideration, I present Hair Color 2.0.

To highlight the difference (yes, I went there!), I give you side-by-side before and after shots. The photos on the right are the revised versions.

See how it’s softer and more natural?

It’s a bit of a letdown after the previous strikingly blond photos, isn’t it? The thing you have to remember, though, is that pictures lie and distort. (It’s why people look larger/taller/more in film than they do in real life). So although my hair color looks tame now in comparison to the initial outcome, it really does translate better in person.

This begs the question, however: when did I become such a safe person? There was a time when I’d just plonk myself in the stylist’s chair and magnanimously say, “Make it happen!” with nary a photo or an idea of what I wanted. I guess my bravado has shifted to other aspects of my life.

I may be more cautious with my hair but I do feel like I take more chances with my wardrobe. Not only have I embraced pattern mixing to the extreme, I’m also a lot more open to baring my arms and trying trends that supposedly do my goblet body shape no favors (palazzo pants, anyone?).

Maybe next season – or when my roots grow out – I’ll take the plunge once again and go even lighter than what I’ve settled with. Until then, I’m just happy that my wardrobe doesn’t clash with my new ‘do like it was doing previously. And that I can finally wear gold with fashion impunity.

It’s the little things, isn’t it?

  1. I think it looked great the first way, but the second is even better! So soft and natural and pretty!

Thanks, Alex. I’m starting to really settle into the color now and am even thinking of adding even more highlights come August before school starts.

  2. You are a smokin’ hottie! Love the hair…gorgeousness! And I’m diggin’ the pink flats with the blue outfit.

  3. The revised version is much more natural looking, while still being very different from your real hair color. I bet your hubby is happier. 😉 You’ve really embraced the knotted shirt, and it looks great!

He actually didn’t even notice I’d tamed it down. Ah, men! And yes, when I was making my Week in Review collage, I did notice a knotting trend. You have created a monster!

  4. Aaaaahhhh….I DO see the difference. It does look more natural. And sophisticated! You look lovely Maricel!

Thank you, Sue. And I do think it’ll be easier to style this way although I think wearing red might be problematic.

I agree, the “revised” hair is more natural looking, though you are fabulous in both. xo

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
