OOTD :: of vehicles, vim and modest va-vooms

This week, it’s Dress Like Your Vehicle or Transport @ SpyGirl aka My Other Transport is a TARDIS week.

I could’ve taken the easy way out and just worn a whole bunch of silver and black – the exterior and interior of my car respectively – but I thought I needed to exercise my creativity, seeing as how I’m in the throes of novel writing this summer.

So I chose to Google adjective/reviews/descriptors of my ride then fashion outfits around those. Clever? Perhaps. All I know is that doing this gave me a lot more options than simply focusing on color.

So, let’s begin with consumer reports. According to buyers/owners of the 2014 Honda Civic, it is reliable, safe and comfortable. Normally, these words would be enough to put one to sleep. They’re almost the equivalent of the “nice guy”, aren’t they? And who wants to dress like that?

Well, how about this mom who has public pool free swim plans with her BF and our kiddos today? And nothing is more reliable and safe and comfortable to wear to the pool than a jersey knit maxi and a regulation white button up. The maxi is wrinkle-free (reliable), the button up can go from car to poolside and then back out to run errands without fear of looking dishabille (safe), and they both allow for mobility (comfortable).

If you must get your style on, however, how about this: the chevron pattern of the maxi gives the ensemble a bit more oomph and excitement, the oversized sunnies make you look oh so Hollywood glam, and the gold monogram necklace picks up the gold in the sandals for that luxe look.

I’m ready for my mojito, cabana boy!

Oh for a gorgeous Chevron skirt like your! Very very chic! Re the TARDIS reference, have you ever worn a dalek outfit? I am considering adapting a blue dress I have to become a TARDIS dress!! X

It’s too bad you don’t have a Target across the pond; this skirt was so very reasonably priced. And I would definitely consider dressing like a dalek but I’m woeful at sewing and crafty things and would fear ruining a perfectly good dress.

  2. This is the perfect, comfy pool-side ensemble! Have a wonderful day with your friend and kids 🙂

It was wonderful – until I forgot it was Monday and not Sunday and I had to drive back in rush hour traffic. >.<

  3. All around perfection…love the skirt…comfort is key my friend!

Well, in the summer it is. But you know me, once cooler temps prevail, I’ll be creating complicated, layered outfits again.

Love your maxi skirt Maricel and I am on the look-out for a pretty Chevron B+W Maxi myself. You styled it in a real classy way with the knotted white blouse. Love it.

A pleasure stopping by again. Welcome by when you can. Thanks, Ada. =)

    • mtsedwards says:

Thanks for stopping by, ADA! The skirt is currently on sale at Target. It’s navy blue but perhaps that’ll do?

  6. Patti says:

Hondas are indeed all those things – and you look fabulous in Honda-inspired goods! Ask the cabana boy for a double for your friend, too : >

I really like this outfit! Can’t wait to see you! You’ll have to tell me about your new writing project.

I’m currently procrastinating from said writing project by blogging instead. I feel like one of our students. Curse you, procrastination! 😀

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
