Treasure Tuesday :: of sweets, kisses, and thanks for all the fish

7.8.14

Welcome to Treasure Tuesday! This is a series conceived by Greenthumb and interpreted by me.

Although her protocol is for participants to take all their pictures to her prompts and publish them in a single post, I’m going to break mine down in bite-sized portions.

Just because.

Yay, summer!

Presenting July’s first installment:

Sweet: Alright, admit it. You don’t know which is sweeter – Aly or the Pop Rocks. I say it’s a toss up…

Together: I pass by this photo every day and and usually I’m inured to it. But in exactly one month from today, I will celebrate my 16th year of marriage with my best friend. And he’s still the one. Our kids will grow up and make lives of their own independent of us, but the hubs and I will be together till death do us part.

Liquid: Aly’s been having loads of fun this summer because a) she’s a girl and we do girly things together, and b) she’s an extrovert and didn’t mind being enrolled in Performing Arts camp. Dylan, on the other hand is a pre-adolescent boy who just wants to stay home and Minecraft. He’s incomprehensible to me. So when he asked for a fish and was prepared to pay for the whole kit and kaboodle, my mommy heart rejoiced that this I could do for him. While Aly was at camp, the boy and I took a trip to PetSmart and invested in a betta set-up. The fish’s name is Kenji.

    • Yep – so glad we did research and chose not to buy the gravel. Makes the tank look slick and futuristic without it.

  1. Your daughter just makes me smile! Her joie de vivre just oozes out of her! And sons, well, one has been acquired by a wife (I love her for that alone), and the other has yet to be taken! They are just a breed apart!

    • Oddly, although I profess not to understand them, I sure write them easier than I do girls. All my protagonists have been boys. I guess it’s just my way of trying to deconstruct and analyze them.

And yes, Aly is a supernova of energy – beautiful from afar but largely exhausting up close. ;p

    • I hope my own children take my advice and marry their best friends too. There really is nothing better.

  2. Good choices! And Aly is way more sweet (and cuter) than the Pop Rocks (they still make those?). I love your wedding photo, too – so romantic, and the fish bowl photo is so ethereal.

I haven’t even written down the July list yet!

    • And here I thought I was late because she posted the list last week and I should’ve had an entry last Tuesday. You’re okay, though, because you post your pics all at once at the end so you have time.

“Ethereal” – I love that word.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
