If you’re a regular reader, you know that my favorite colors is plaid. And it’s Mad for Plaid over at SpyGirl this week. This should’ve been a match made in heaven.
Unfortunately, I’m still in the midst of my 50 Dresses challenge and woe is me! I have plaid shirts and blazers and skirts and shoes. But I only have one (ONE!) dress and I’m saving it for Friday because Friday.
Oh, what’s a gal to do? (Please permit me yet another indulgent first-world problem dwell.)
Why, incorporate all my plaid items into dress ensembles, of course!
Today, I give you a pair of plaid heels from Betsey Johnson’s collection. They’re thoroughly uncomfortable – surprisingly not because of the heel height but because of the toe box which is unnaturally short and my toes keep stubbing themselves within the shoe when I walk – but I keep them primarily because they’re plaid and I paid a pretty penny for them and I’ll be damned if I get my money’s worth before surrendering them to the cull pile.
Because the shoes are the showpiece of the outfit, I chose a simple black and white look up top. The only acknowledgement to embellishment is the bit of sparkle on the top’s bib-like bodice. I do want to point out that I’ve finally successfully duped that style I so love – that whole top under dress thing. I guess I just needed the proper dress to accommodate my rather fussy body, eh?

So I can’t stand it. The OCD in me musthave all four points of the compass represented.
And since I’ve saved tons of money from my 90-Day Spending Fast, I feel I can splurge on two extra pics from my good friend Anne.
Thanks so much to those of you who voted. The results are in and below are the winners for each region.
I did fudge on the “North”, however. There was a tie for it, but y’all picked either the red farmhouse or Niagara Falls. Since the NY City photo was already grey and gritty, I subbed out the Falls pic for the other farmhouse – partly because I’m smitten by Selah’s comment about it being “gloriously lonely” and partly because I needed a fifth pic for my 5 Things feature – and now I have one, final vote request, if I may? Which “North” pic should I pick?
I’ve thumbnailed them all for you so you can imagine how they’ll all look when put together on my wall. And if anyone wants to Photoshop me a cool compass rose to go in the center of my planned wall collage, I’ll be your best friend.
Week in review – At least I can’t kill these flowers!
Today, I present for your consideration the newly-named monthly feature: The Treasury (formerly known as Treasure Tuesday).
If you recall, this is a series conceived by Greenthumb, and I’d interpreted it differently during my Summer Edition posts. I’ve decided to follow her protocol for the regular year, giving you all 12 photos in one post.
Sadly, there will be no individual photo narratives this month.
My current batch of students exhaust me and it was all I could do to find pics for the list. The last three were particularly challenging and I fully admit that they aren’t my best in terms of both choice of subject and photography.
