Would it be awful to admit that this was yet another item in my closet that still had tags on it?

Ah, 50 Dresses! You are becoming more and more of a castigating Catholic nun, aren’t you?

Rather than wallow in shame, however, why don’t we rejoice in finding novelty in my closet, especially considering this is only Day 23 of the 90-Day Spending Fast. I’m not feeling the pinch yet, my friends, but it sure is nice to pretend I’d just bought this little gem. I’m also quite pleased with how I’ve styled it.

I’ve been thinking more and more about my feet and how precious they are and how I need to pamper them more often. Therefore, I am trying to alternate pain with comfort – wearing heels then flats consecutively – and whereas I would’ve chosen pumps for this outfit back in my heyday, I thought beyond the norm and pulled out my oxfords just for fun.

I instantly fell in love with the whimsy of pairing a floaty, romantic dress with practical, stolid saddle shoes. And, of course, nothing says “Back to School” quite like a pair of schoolgirl footwear, right? I upped the whimsy factor with a turquoise statement necklace, and I must say that the tonality of the blues appeals to my aesthetic.

Overall, a slam dunk of an ensemble. Why is it that TARDIS Tuesdays are always my best style days?

  1. Love the tardis blue with the turquoise necklace. I, too, am trying to wear more comfy shoes. I bought those Anne Klein loafers I was drooling over at DSW. Help me figure out how to style them. I wore them today and was super happy.

    • Good on you for those shoes. Of course, you tell me this in the middle of my fast and now I’m jonesing for comfy loafers. Ah, me!

  2. Ah, TARDIS Tuesday – I actually posted a TARDIS today – yay, me!

Anne’s right, that blue is good for you. And the shoes make it playful as well as comfortable. That’s thinking outside the (tardis) box!

  3. Your Royal Blue chiffon dress is gorgeous. Love that you chose the Masculine Brogues for it. I also love the addition of another blue via the necklace. =) You have been killing it lately, Maricel.

P.S. Did you check out my 30 for 30 remix challenge, lately? Welcome by. Thanks.

    • That was sheer spontaneous inspiration. Was gonna do a pop of color orange or pink but chose the necklace at the last minute and promptly fell in love.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
