OOTD :: of the real deal and saving the best for last

9.26.14So remember my break-up letter with Forever 21? And how I was waffling about this dress?

Well, it’s another save from the cull pile, my friends.

I’d initially decided against throwing more money after a “lost cause”, cute pattern notwithstanding, because I really have more skirts than is healthy (even more than I do dresses, but we’re not gonna get into that right now) and I felt it wasn’t worth the tailoring.

Guess what, though? Not only is this my only true hibiscus print item, it also managed to fit me better the second time around. It’s either because I’m wearing a different bra or because I’m finally losing weight.

Or perhaps both?

Regardless, I’m definitely keeping this number, bodice cutout, apron pockets, too-cutesy-for-me-cut and all. Sometimes, a gal’s just gotta get her flirt on, you know what I mean? But I am keeping it work appropriate with the fab Patrick Robinson jacket that I totally scored from eBay and which has become my new fave completer piece. Was never a fan of linen, but the distressed cuffs and military hook-and-eye closures pretty much sealed the deal for me.

Vive le vendredi!

  1. I’m so glad you’ve decided to keep it! I think my favorite things about this dress are the fit and the pockets. Oh the pockets! My ex-boyfriend didn’t like skirts or dresses with pockets…I should have known he wasn’t the one then and there!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
