OOTD :: of analogous colors and florals

The Trend Salad print du jour are florals.

I don’t actually know if it’s considered a trend since I’m betting using flowers as inspiration has been a fashion staple for as long as fashion has been around. Still, it’s a pattern and it’s a dress and it’s TARDIS blue-ish and I’m calling a spade a spade so I can hit all my targets with this outfit.

I’m realizing that the problem with dresses is that, depending on the cut and the print, they tend to be quite memorable and/or difficult to style from a mix and match perspective. (Perhaps that’s why separates were invented?) I’d bought this dress because I was captivated by the print and knew it could stand on its own, but these very traits make it a bit challenging in the remixing arena; what else could I match with it besides the classic white blazer?

Taking inspiration from the statement necklace I acquired from eBay during my Mad Hunt for statement necklaces last year, I went with being a walking beacon of color, opting for this brilliant green blazer. And to add insult to injury (?) I eschewed the pair of neutral pumps I’d originally intended for my fave pair of sky-high wedges.

Pushing the envelope? Moi? Never!

  1. I am once again impressed that you are able to check-off all of your goal boxes AND you still manage to look put together!

  2. The Sartorial Coquette says:

Gorgeous look!! These colors complement each other so well – especially for fall ❤

  3. Sure, it’s bright, but the colors are great together! Green will always work with florals – think about how much green is in a garden. 😀

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
