The story behind this dress:

So I developed an obsession with eShakti after they generously allowed me to review and keep this dress, but even though I’m working to get out of my “quantity over quality” shopping mentality, I just couldn’t see myself plunking down a couple Benjamins for a single item. I did vow that I would purchase at least one of their frocks per season, however, and when they offered a Buy One, Get One 50% promo in the summer, I knew I had to take advantage of that business.

This particular dress took the place of the original bird print one I wanted only because they’d sold out of my color (I wanted it in TARDIS blue, of course). I paid the extra $7 to get it bespoke according to my personal measurements, and I waited with bated breath for my goodies to come.

When they finally arrived – this and the Havana – I was disappointed to discover that this one was one inch too short. Which was odd since the Havana was the perfect length and I’d ordered both together using the same measurement info. Now normally I’m so vertically challenged that I don’t worry overmuch about too-short things, but the generous cut of the skirt made this dress bell out and emphasize that one-inch deficit.

I emailed eShakti and was promptly contacted by a rep who offered me these options: keep the dress and a gift certificate for the price of it, or send the dress back and receive a full refund. I figured I could just wear stockings/leggings/jeans with this dress to make it more modest so I chose the former option and set out to style it so I wouldn’t regret my choice.

Apparently, wearing flats works just as well as stockings/leggings/jeans to mitigate the dress’ risqué length. And pairing it with a substantial yet cheeky wool jacket also helps ground it. Bonus points for the jacket being blue, and Victorian-esque in vibe because the entire outfit suddenly becomes TARDIS Tuesday ready. I feel like a seasonally incongruous Clara Oswald a là The Snowmen episode.
