OOTD :: of crazy legs and indoor lighting

So remember when I kept whingeing about the weather and longing for rain and cold?

Well, you know how they say to be careful what you wish for? Yeah. Rain and cold = yay. But rain and cold also = no outdoor photo shoots.

Lucky me, I’ve got a spare bedroom to turn into a makeshift photo studio. Unlucky me, I suck at indoor lighting. Even after reading several digital photo blogs and purchasing a floor lamp at Target, I still had to do some serious Photoshopping on all my pics this week, which defeats the purpose of not doing collages and trying to make things easier for me.

Life. Right?

I just hope you all forgive the painful quality of the pics this week and focus on the outfits as best you can.

Anyhow, the good news is that I’m back on track with Anne’s 52 Pick-me-up challenges. This week is Crazy Legs and that has me delving under my bed for my stored leggings from last year. And before you lecture me on the whole “leggings aren’t pants” thing, keep in mind I am fun-sized and most shirts cover my derriere quite nicely, thank you very much.

Today’s ensemble had the potential to be a rehash of the sweggings’ first iteration because they’re such a distinctive piece and I was at a loss as to the footwear to pair with them. But my trusty Payless pumps (I swear they’re burgundy to match the sweggings!) helped elevate the look, as did the long necklace. So even though I chose to sweater it up top again, I think I managed to create a distinctively different look from last time.

Accessories really do make an outfit.

    • Sweater + leggings = sweggings. LOL! The good thing about sweggings is that they keep the legs uber warm. The bad news is that they bunch and stretch and you look like you’re wearing a saggy diaper by day’s end. Good thing I wore a long, bum-covering top, eh?

  1. Oh, Crazy Legs! I love it. You look all jazzy without looking junior, and it takes a very cool woman to make that happen! Really adorable .. do you have a drawer full of bright leggings, Ts and sweaters to put together? You should do this all the time!

    • Hey, now! That’s a grand idea! It could be my new, comfy but stylish uniform! Must check the status of my sweaters…

    • Thanks! But I keep catching students eyeing them skeptically, unsure whether to compliment me on their coolness or politely tell me that I look like a crazy cat lady. 😀

    • Hey, think maybe you can do a leggings look this week for Blogging Besties so I can pass it on next week? Wink, wink. Hint, hint. ;p

    • Absolutely! Get ready for more leggings looks as I try to make up for my hiatus from 52 Pick-me-up by doing Crazy Legs all this week.

  2. We’ve got cool and wet today too – lovely for an indoor read (The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress – did you like?). Love those “sweggings” and your fabulous hair. xox

    • Ah, and here I was bemoaning my bad hair day and feeling completely unattractive as I snapped this week’s shots. You’re so good for my ego, Patti! Thanks!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
