T3 :: of indecisions, a list and badassery

I can’t. I just can’t.

I can’t ever settle with one thing. It’s why best/worst/what’s your favorite fill in the blank inquiries always confound me. I’m your quintessential Gemini; can’t make up my mind to save my life.

That said, you’d think I’d veto Selah when she came up with this month’s T3 topic: Best or Worst Read of 2014. How did I even think I’d be able to narrow down a year’s worth of reading into one, final decision?

Argh.

But it had sounded like a great topic at the time – a good way to cap off the year – and I couldn’t think of an alternative topic so I’d agreed and thought I’d surely think of something by the time December came rolling around. And yet here we are. December. And I got nothing.

Or so I thought.

When I was planning this week, my primary game plan was to fulfill my school’s Spirit Week. And today is Flannel Day. And I came up with this outfit. And I really liked it and wouldn’t even have thought to change it but then I remembered T3 and despaired, thinking I’d have to start from scratch.

But then I went to my Goodreads account and reviewed my 2014 reading list and had a total epiphany: you know what all my 5-star reads all have in common? Badass female protagonists who don’t take guff from anyone. And you know what I feel like in this outfit? Yep. You guessed it.

So even though I simply can’t decide on a “Best Read”, at least I can determine what makes all my bests so great. Now if only I could’ve decided on which pair of boots to wear with this ensemble when I did my pictorial. (Yep, I’m wearing two different boots; didja notice?) Which do you think eventually won out?

Hullo, Wordless Wednesday!

Thanks for raining cats and dogs on the one Spirit Week day that requires me to wear heels and velvet. Yes, that was my being facetious. Ah, well. At least I’m theme compliant for Fancy Day.

Psssst! Have you got your Best or Worst Read of 2014 ready for tomorrow’s T3 linkup?

TARDIS Tuesday :: of looking fly in an ugly sweater

Do people still say “fly”? In that slang context? Or did I just thoroughly date myself?

Regardless, can I just say how much I struggled with this Spirit Week theme? Oh, I know the “ugly Christmas sweater” thing is rampant in our society – there’s a Master’s thesis waiting to be written! – but that doesn’t mean I succumbed and bought one. Heck, I don’t think I even own anything remotely “ugly”, let alone a Christmas sweater.

Lucky for me, ASB didn’t specify holiday; it’s just “Ugly Sweater” Day, which leaves it open to interpretation. And this is mine. Because some people – Ahem! My husband! – think bejeweled bunnies are the apex of hideous, and although I think it’s utterly adorable, I think it must count.

Of course, it being TARDIS Tuesday and all, I threw in a blue plaid shirt and blue skinnies to be compliant to my own linkup. And because it was forecasted to rain today, I chose my go-to rain footwear so my tootsies remain warm and dry.

Missions accomplished.

Now let’s see what other folks have got for us, yeah? Link below if you’re sporting some TARDIS-esque swag. And don’t forget about T3 – Best or Worst Read of 2014 on Thursday!

OOTD :: of a plethora of thematic obligations

But not only is it T3 week, we’ve also got the fledgling TARDIS Tuesday tomorrow, and the Frozen theme from 52 Pick-me-up aaaaand…

Spirit Week at school!

Yep, I had totally bypassed the first one and I feel I ought to make an effort for this one. ‘Tis the season to be magnanimous and all. And perhaps if I try to enjoy my students this year, things might just turn around.

Stranger things have happened.

Today is quite obviously Pajama Day. I love this theme because it always gives me an excuse to hie on over to Target and splurge in something that I normally don’t give two hoots about since very few people see me in it. Kinda like socks and underwear.

Anyhoozle, I’m a bit bummed about my pjs purchase this year because a) I overestimated my size again and got a large and now the pants insist on falling off unless cinched tight by b) drawstrings! Argh! The pjs came in a nice little wrapped package and I was loath to un-bow them and try them on in the store and I thought they’d be elastic waisted, but alas! They are not. And too bad I threw away the receipt since c) these babies went on sale two days after I bought them.

Sigh. My life.

At least the top fits my linebacker shoulders and I still love the pattern – they’ve got cunning polar bears slumbering by cabins and pine trees! – and they totally work for 52 Pick-me-up ‘coz this is what I’d wear if the world was frozen outside.

Oh, and btw: Thoughtful Third Thursday’s theme this month is Best OR Worst Read of 2014. C’mon, folks! Do tell!
