I’m baaack! Didja miss me?

To be frank, and at the risk of sounding churlish and cavalier, I certainly didn’t miss updating this blog. It was quite liberating not having to think of clever copy or race against the sun for photo ops for a glorious two weeks. And since I took a hiatus from my blog, I decided to go whole hog and cut myself off from social media for two weeks as well.

So a blanket apology to all my blog buddies – I didn’t comment on anyone’s posts because I opted for some much-needed “me” time. I hope I didn’t inadvertently insult you by being incommunicado.

But enough recriminations and guilt (gave that up for Lent several years ago and still going strong). Let’s take this first blog day of 2015 and revisit last year’s predictions, shall we? Here’s how it all went down:

  1. I will continue to obsess over Doctor Who and all things blue and/or Doctor Who inspired.
    • Natch.
  2. I will phase out stilettos in favor of – gasp! – sensible shoes as my body and especially my feet continue to atrophy with age.
    • Nope. Couldn’t do it. Love my stilettos. Comes from being fun-sized and being addicted to a long, lean silhouette.
  3. In keeping with #2, I’ll be pulling away from the classy/uptown looks and veering more into the funky/downtown ensembles.
    • Hrmmm…I’d have to do a quick scan of my photos, but I think I was 50% successful with this one.
  4. It’ll be less about the clothes and more about the accessories.
    • Do layers (both over and under) count as accessorizing? If not, I do think I utilized scarves a bit more last year but I neglected all my statement necklaces and pretty much forgot my bracelets.
  5. I’ll be more willing to spend more but shop less.
    • Ahahahahaha! We all know how this one turned out!

So, should I even bother with 2015 predictions? It seems rather pointless and self-indulgent. How’s about we all agree to just take each day as it comes and follow Life Lesson #7 (No expectations)? That way, every day has the potential for greatness.

  1. Good to have you back! It is liberating to take a break, isn’t it? I like a couple of weeks of hibernation in the darkest winter. Your predictions were, well, sort of right. At least they were only predictions, not resolutions, because that’s just too much pressure.

That scarf is sooooo pretty! Love the jacket and whole mix, kind of like dashing hipster!

    • YES! Success! Totally was going for that dashing vibe. I could do without the hipster moniker, though. I hear it’s not the thing anymore. 😉

  2. I figured you were taking some time off. Certainly a change not to get your updates though! The scarf really makes the outfit!

    • Thanks, Patti! I shall try to keep on but it gets challenging when my body refuses to listen to the siren song of the treadmill. 😜

    • Ah, I missed you, my friend! You always have the right thing to say to make me feel validated and encouraged. And yeah, I don’t think of my glasses and ring as accessorizing since they’re such a part of my routine in the morning (brush teeth, put on my face, glasses and ring), but I guess they count, eh?

  3. I did miss you!! So glad you’re back my friend. And this outfit? I want it. All. Of. It. You did a smashing job of putting together a comeback look. Oh, and how about this…today was supposed to be our first day of school after Christmas break, but school is closed due to a CDC investigation of a mumps outbreak!! WTH?! Who gets mumps in this century…and an outbreak no less?? And the CDC?!

    • Ha! I knew someone would appreciate the velvet awesomeness. Was walking out the door today and my bro-in-law said it was a hideous flashback to the 70s. Hey, that makes me vintage, right? ;p

Also, mumps…I’ll take an outbreak right now if it meant one more day of vacay. Unless you have to make it up at the end somehow? :/

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
