OOTD :: of amaryllis, comfy shoes, and totally Target

I gotta hand it to Anne – in the year and a half that I’ve been regularly participating in her 52 Pick-me-up challenges, she has totally expanded my flora horizons. I never knew there were so many types of flowers and colors out there. A gardener I am not.

Still, there is something to be said about gaining inspiration from nature. This week, it’s the jaunty amaryllis that Anne has tasked as with, and I was immediately captivated by its sunburst shape. I was less enamored of the varieties of colors it comes in because its primarily a tomato red flower and that hue does not work well with my skin tone.

Thank goodness for Google. I plucked out the lone fuchsia image and created my outfit around it. This blazer had been begging to be worn for quite some time and I finally decided to listen to its pleas. As most of you know, I like tonality, so the top was an easy no-brainer of a choice since it matched the color of the blazer almost as if they came as a set.

The bottoms proved slightly more problematic, but in keeping with the whole flower theme, I chose my brocade skinnies that look grey in the above pics but are actually a lovely, subtle shade of olive in real life, kinda lie mimicking a stem, n’est-ce pas?

Of course, it wouldn’t be me without a bit of juxtaposition. So the formality of the blazer and the femininity of the blouse is countered by the funky toughness of a pair of purple oxfords. Add a cheeky photobomber and Monday’s pictorial is complete.

It was only after I started putting in the facts that I realized three quarters of my entire ensemble came from Target. They really ought to hire me as their marketing rep.

  1. The shot of you and your mini is adorable and I’ve wanted a bright pink blazer for like 1,001 years. In other words, love this!

I know, right? To both things. Aly is always a heartstring tugger and that hot pink blazer had been on my radar forever. Even bought then sadly gave away without wearing an overseas version that was too small. Thank god for Target and this one!

  2. such a fabulous color combo, lovely shades and prints working together!! and looking so fresh and funky!

Anne has a way of expanding horizons, doesn’t she? : > You look fab, and thanks for linking up! xox

  5. Ooh, I love the print on the top. When did Aly get so tall!?!

Argh, these flower themes of mine! In my head, it was a red and burgundy situation and then I had to find a photo to prove me correct. In my searches, I found pale pinks, peachy tones, peppermint stripes, purple (!), yellow — it goes on and on. Taking color cues from nature is a no-fail — Mother Nature mixes her colors to perfection.
Ah, Liberty of London — such great prints!

You’re photo bomber has gotten so tall!

Aw, man! I wish that had been your intent! Then I could have totally worn my new burgundy velvet blazer from Altuzarra! Then again, not knowing forced me to make use of this blazer and this top, so all’s well. ;p

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
