OOTD :: of green velvet and Charles Gray London

It’s not that I’ve run out of TARDIS blue items.

On the contrary, I’ve unearthed some more tops I’d apparently purchased last year in anticipation of my linkup and then promptly forgot about in the depths of my closet. (What else is new, right?)

But I figured it was time for me to branch out and model for you how to interpret this linkup so it doesn’t always have to be Whovian or blue-related. After all, they say that modeling is the best form of instruction and I am a teacher.

So today, I give you my lovely green velvet blazer. Because inexplicably, green velvet reminds me of England. And because the label is Charles Gray London. And because the cut of this blazer is vaguely Edwardian (See those buttons? And those ruched pockets? And the gorgeous cuffs?) which in turn reminds me of Downton Abbey which of course is British.

Tenuous connections? Perhaps. But I’d given you a teaser of this blazer last week and I felt I owed it to you. And I really do think this is something any Brit would be proud to wear (wanna chime in on this, Kezzie?).

And you, my friends? What lovely sartorial offering have you got on this fine TARDIS Tuesday morning? Do link and tell…

  1. […] No, I’m not wearing an outfit two Tuesdays in a row. Today, I’m actually wearing the green velvet ensemble from last week; yes, I cheated on my blog! Forgive […]

  2. cringing says:

Wow you’re so cute! Love the skirt

  3. Melanie says:

Another Brit chiming in for the love of the jacket! I wore a bottle green velvet one for my William Hartnell inspired outfit 🙂

    • mtsedwards says:

There are so many names for this color! I do feel a bit left out of the green party, but I’m learning! I’m learning! Thanks for stopping by and for the official stamp of Brit approval!

  4. Vix says:

Hello Maricel! I love that jacket, the colour is fantastic and the cut is beautiful. My first visit here, our mutual friend Kezzie insisted I link up with yesterday’s outfit as its “Tardis Blue!” xxx

    • mtsedwards says:

Yes! More friends from across the pond! Welcome, welcome! Any friend of Kezzie’s is a friend of mine. Thanks for the visit and for linking up. Hope to see you again next Tuesday! 😀

  5. Kezzie says:

Yes, in answer to your question! Yes. Yes yes!!! Er, I’ve forgotten what it was!

My dear, you clearly need to look at some old Doctors because that green blazer SCREAMS 3rd Doctor, Jon Pertwee! He wore a green velvet smoking jacket in an episode and in fact was my stimulus for my Jon Pertwee whospiration post some years ago. Beautiful, beautiful and I like your inclusivity. I have such a backlog of who outfits lined up, yay, cant wait for tge next one!!!!x

    • mtsedwards says:

Yes, I MUST watch more Who. Then I’ll finally feel like a full-fledged Whovian and not just a Nu-Whovian. I’m thinking summer holiday project? On Netflix?

Can’t wait for your next iteration…

  6. jenortega says:

Never would have paired green and grey, but I like!

  7. chessakat says:

OMG, there are like 10 things I want to say abou this, but I’ll try to make it fewer.

1)I have a weirdly strong attraction to that color green. Like, when I find it, I can’t not buy it. It’s like a past-life carryover or something, I can’t explain it!

2)Have you read The Hollows by Kim Harrison? (Have I already asked this?) Anyway, that jacket is SOOOOO Al, the main demon character. SO AL. I love it so much.

3)This look is so cute I might shrivel up and die! The ankle boots! The green! The skirt! *passes out*

    • mtsedwards says:

Ah, but you know what a feedback whore I am! You should’ve gone for the 10! ;p

      1) It must be a Northwestern thing because I have such a difficult time finding this color ANYWHERE. I mean, I had to eBay this bad boy! You’re a lucky duck for even finding this color locally.

      2) Yes, I believe you’ve mentioned her and I swear I’ll get to this series once I’m done with Selah’s recommendation of Mrs. Pollifax.

      3) Oh, please don’t pass out. /performs CPR frantically 😀

  8. Patti says:

Yes, I thought of British Racing Green too! This jacket is delicious – I love the color, cut and fit. xox

    • mtsedwards says:

I must be the ONLY person on the blogosphere who’s both an Anglophile and a stylista but who doesn’t know about British racing green. I had to wiki that bad boy, Ah, live and learn, right?

  9. […] Up With: TARDIS Tuesday (My Closet Catalogue) Confident Twosdays (I Do […]

  10. This is actually very helpful! I continue to only link-up outfits with blue in them and perhaps I should branch out! I’m really liking your tights. My only grey tights are completely opaque which I like most of the time…but I really like this look!

  11. I don’t associating dark green with Britain is inexplicable – it’s British Racing Green! Also the grey is like London fog (at least in my American imagination). 🙂

    • mtsedwards says:

Ha! London fog! I didn’t even think of that! Doh! Thanks for more connections, beta dear! You are so good for me when I overlook things.

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
