OOTD :: of purple, green, and International Women’s Day

picstitch(26)I’ve really gotta learn how to procrastinate.

Because, had I waited a good thirty minutes, these pictures would have been spectacular. I mean, you really can’t go wrong with jewel-toned emerald green and purple, right? Unless you were me, of course. And then, yes. Yes, you can eff it up.

The sun was just way too high up in the sky, but in my haste to get the photo shoot done as quickly as possible so I could go back and do other things, I forged right ahead. I then had to spend way too much time Photoshopping these to get them just right. So all that time I was trying to save? Yeah, not so much.

But why the discontent? I’ve posted overexposed pics before, after all. Well, I was really proud of this outfit because of the clever, non-cartoony way I combined green and purple (I didn’t end up looking like The Joker, at least) and I really wanted to show that off as best as I could.

And why purple and green today, you ask? Well, I’m supporting International Women’s Day and this:

From 1908, the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in Great Britain adopted the colour scheme of purple, white and green to symbolise the plight of the Suffragettes. Purple symbolised justice and dignity – two values strongly associated with women’s equality. The three colours were used for banners, flags, rosettes and badges to show solidarity.

I actually had another outfit with the requisite colors prepped and photographed properly and ready to post, but this ridiculous SoCal weather conspired against me and it was just gonna be way to warm for pants and boots and a heavier velvet blazer.

Sigh.

At least I’ll have an outfit for next year.
