OOTD :: of baroque redux and a T3 twist

It’s the week of the third Thursday, and this month’s prompt asks you to think about Marching On, or be inspired by a book you had to slog through to finish and/or a series you marathoned.

Please ponder while I discuss today’s ensemble…

I love baroque. The period appeals to the whimsical pattern mixer in me. It’s appeal for me must’ve started all the way back in middle school when I paired a purple paisley top with a grey paisley trouser and red suede ankle boots. (Yes, it was the 80s.)

I’d like to think my sartorial predilections for patterns have grown up and classed up somewhat, as evinced by my Mad Hunting and acquisition of this top. It’s reminiscent of that chain print made so ubiquitous by Versace and I think it’s plenty baroque to be compliant with Anne’s Pick-me-up linkup this week.

Of course, since it’s from NY&Co, it had a bit of that mumsy, office lady quality to it. Nothing against mumsy office ladies – it’s just not my shtick, ya know? So I paired it with a cropped denim jacket to bring the professional quota down a notch. I suppose I could’ve also chosen Chucks or oxfords to exacerbate the informality, but the boxy cut of the top coupled with its flowiness, demanded a bit of height to prevent my looking stumpy. Thus, stilettos it is.

I’ve done baroque before, of course (see here and here and possibly here) but I never tire of it so I guess we can safely say that it’s a fashion genre that’s here to stay for me.

Speaking of “here to stay”, stay tuned for my T3 offering this Thursday. I figure I’d better model some different ways to approach the linkup because we all need expanded horizons, eh?
