The theme of the week is April Showers: A book that made you cry which is gonna be a toughie for me because I’ve not exactly been reading books recently. I may have to dig deep into the archives or get creative again for this one…
But that’s Thursday. Today, I give you my ode to spring.
The whole outfit almost defies any explanation, it’s that overtly colorful and in-your-face. I feel like this is one of those instances when a picture is definitely worth a thousand words.
Still, I am a wordsmith after all, so let me try to point out all the bits that made my happiness factor shoot through the roof when I concocted this confection:
- Pink florals + chartreuse, the true Gemini color
- Flattering waistline
- Ruffles
- Pockets!
I also want to give a shout out to Jan @ Fort Smith Stylista who had posted a while back with a plea to help her style nude pumps. I almost chose my fuchsia pumps but decided that the vibrant colors and the details of the dress and the last-minute addition of pearls to fill a rather risqué décolletage necessitated a more sedate footwear option, n’est-ce pas?
So Jan, this outfit is dedicated to you!
All in all, I feel uber pretty in this ensemble, which is something I need since today heralds the official end of Spring Break and my return to ye ol’ grind. Like I always say, “The cuter the outfit, the less I want to be here” and cheekiness aside, I think I’m ready to face the world.

One of my favorite outfits in a while, the colors looked lovely together!
And you didn’t even get to see me all that much today. Thanks for the compliment, though. ;p
I didn’t know chartreuse was our color! It looks fabulous as does the spring-y frock. xox
Yes, yes! Indeed! We must all wear chartreuse on our respective birthdays!
I love everything about this dress! The pink, the ruffles, THE POCKETS! You do look ready to face the world. And interesting fact: I am also a Gemini but don’t feel that I relate at all to anything that is ever said about Geminis…hmmm.
Perhaps you’re a cusp Gemini? When’s your birthday? And yes, I only bought the dress because of the label – I love Maggy London – and then was a bit disappointed with the sleeves. A completer piece makes it all happy and good though. ;p
Ooh, pretty! Did you get highlights? Your hair looks lovely!
Why, yes! I needed my roots done and decided to go all out since I was in the chair anyway. ‘Tis my summer color, methinks.
Love, love, love! Yes, chartreuse is “our” color, fellow Twin.
Ha! I knew there was a reason we got along in that haphazard, low maintenance Gemini kinda way! ;p
