OOTD :: of basic ensembles and alarming revelations

This week is brought to you by: “skinny pants, lace top, a button-down shirt, pointy flats, chambray, green, and a pendant necklace”.

For your viewing pleasure, I give you: skinny pants, a button-down shirt, and green.

The extra bits: Aside from the green, which is an out-of-my-comfort-zone thing for me since it’s not a color I can easily style, this ensemble is pretty basic. I’d mentioned in a response to a comment that the warmer the weather turns, the less fussy complicated my outfits become. At least, I hope that’s the reason my ensembles of late haven’t been as daring/visually editorial/innovative as they could be.

The more alarming alternative is that this blogging thing is waning as my anime interest is waxing. For some reason, these two just don’t get along, creative ensembles for T3 notwithstanding, and the more energy I pour into watching series, the less excited I get about my weekly outfits.

I’ve also disconnected the auto update to Facebook because reasons. I haven’t looked at my Stats page in a while, but I’m betting I’ll lose a bit of traffic by my doing so.

It doesn’t help that my closest blogging friends have been on semi-hiatus recently, which makes me want to join them in their sporadic updating.

If it’s the latter case, then, at least I can say proudly that it’s been a good run. I’m nowhere near Kezzie, who just recently celebrated a decade of blogging, but two years of solid, daily blogging? Hells, I think that graduates me from ningas kugon status for sure, so if I quit now, I will still feel fulfilled.

Vive le vendredi!

  1. Blogging ennui is not unusual, I hear about it from lots of people (and occasionally feel it myself! Usuually when I am in a grump!) but do what you need to. I would miss you more regularly.x
Well done on 2 years! I’m stubborn, that’s why I have persevered!

    • You are my blogging hero. I shall think of you when I’m “in a grump” (I like that, btw; will start using it forthwith) and forge on with posting.

  2. Two years is amazing!

I can’t chastise you for potentially not blogging, obviously – I just cannot muster my passion for it lately.

One of my issues with blogging (and me) is that I have serial interests – so how do you have a singular focus and not eventually get bored? I know people have more generally focused blogs, and I like those, too – but I think I would need structure to motivate myself (i.e., Mondays I talk about ____, Tuesdays _____, etc). Which obviously could be done, but hey, let’s call it like it is – I’m in a fallow/lazy period.

All this to say, sorry I made this about me, but I just wanted to say *I understand how you feel and I support whatever decision you make!* ❤ ❤ ❤

And I love that little green jacket! And shirt!

    • “Serial interests” – I like that! That’s so me too! And “fallow period” is especially resonating with me right now too. You do have a way with words, my friend. Wanna write Chapter 19 for me? ;p I’m thoroughly stuck…

    • Maybe I’ll go back to doing the Scavenger Hunt? Or focus on anime reviews? Or book reviews? Must brainstorm summer features…

      • I love this idea! I hope you can think of some new features that get you feeling excited again. I don’t want you to disappear from the blogosphere completely. I would miss you far too much! And I think you do green extremely well! You should wear it more often!

        • Ah, thank you, m’dear! I’d miss you all too. I’m sorry I’ve not been regularly commenting on all your blogs, but rest assured that they’re being read and enjoyed. 😀

    • Yeah, I know. The fact that I’ve scaled back on my shopping is probably also a factor in my malaise. I need to find excitement in what’s currently in my closet instead of yearning for novelty in purchases.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Jen! And I’m happy that the green came out so well. I dunno why I have such a difficult time with this color; it’s not that much different from blue, right?

  3. Ahhhhhhh Nooooooo! Scale back, don’t quit!
Take a Blogging vacay (as I seem to have done for several of my blogs).
Getting over the guilt of “resting and recharging” is half the battle.
And no one is saying that you must post only outfits, except yourself.

    • True, but the last time I tried to deviate from the norm (OOTDs), I got a disparaging earful from certain people. :/

But as I said to Patti, I’m definitely not quitting, just scaling back. So you’ll still get a dose of MCC, perhaps just not on a daily basis. If you keep up 52 Pick-me-up, you can be assured of at least one entry a week from me!

  4. Ahh I’ll follow you anywhere, but you gotta do what you love. Srsly, there is no faking passion for a hobby; you have to love it, or leave it, or change it. And you can come back any time. xoxo

    • Oh, I feel a bit like the Pied Piper when you say that! 😀

Thanks, Patti, for the words of encouragement. I’m thinking of doing a hiatus during summer – since I’ll be living in shorts, tanks and flip-flops anyway – but I’m betting I’ll be back by August when work starts again. I hope people still remember to visit then…

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
