This week is brought to you by: “orange, a sleeveless blouse, white jeans, sandals, gold jewelry, bangles, and contrast piping”.
For your viewing pleasure, I give you: orange, a sleeveless blouse, and white jeans.
The extra bits: This must be my season color palette of choice. Because I believe I’ve already done this combo – last Friday, in fact – and although there was a repeat in the Blogging Besties prompt (orange), I didn’t necessarily have to pair it with yet more blue.
This Lilly Pulitzer top just screamed to be featured, however, and since it was compliant with this week’s “sleeveless blouse”, I decided I was okay with being derivative of myself. Besides, you really can’t say no to this brilliant blue hue and the cunning sea dollar print, can you? I know I couldn’t! And it’s even got that luvverly neckline I adore. Score!
So the top was set. Did I have to pair it with orange? I could’ve done any one of my myriad colors of Chucks. Pink or neon yellow would’ve looked particularly swag, I think. But it was so easy to just choose the orange pair because it fit yet another one of the prompts and once I committed, I simply couldn’t go back on my decision. Does that make me OCD?
An aside: I want to point out that, for all my whingeing and whining about wanting to live in colder climes, the reality is that I’m stuck forever in sunny SoCal, so I figure I might as well embrace the beach/surfer/boho vibe. But I also need to keep semi-professional with my outfits even as I embrace the SoCal style, casual Friday notwithstanding.
Don’t you think, then, that this fab jacket as a completer piece over the more casual top kills those two birds with one stone? The raw edges and linen fabric are in keeping with the beachy vibe while the hook and eye closures and structured cut lend a tough respectability to the ensemble.
Vive le vendredi!
